I believe I once or twice mentioned I was being taught patience the hard way?

Well without meaning to or even wanting to I just received a master class in resolving frustration into
    patience .
It was around mid- winter on a cold and raining night when a three thousand year old Yu tree
came crashing down exactly spliting the difference between our trailer and a close neighbor..

The only casualty was my CenturyLink connection

Just realized how tired I am...

    Chapter two tomorrow mooring.

For now very glad to have finally Sorted most of my difficulties.

But still stuck in Windows. Need instruction on how to get Mint set up for
    wifi.

So, tree goes down and with it my internet.
We call and ask to be restored and they (CenturyLink) in conversation with
Patti tell us we been double paying and that they owe us 5000 bucks.
But now CenturyLink won'tt hook us up claiming
we owe them $85 bucks for an address we never lived at.
    at/
    Then my box dies and
    I'm left crying really hard.

Box was 7 years old, money still tight Intrnet connection is crap
Kinda of peek a boo have to work fast before I lose it again.
Can't deal with parts being mis shipped, so I bought a Dell 8950
    15 years since I had a pre-built.
    I was pleasantly surprised

But I can't' get Mint to go wireless.
(I'm using a neighbors WiFi and DON"T have a hard line in,)

Would really appreciate A how to. in Mint So I can dump Winblows\

Patti is healing slowly but surely from a pit bull attack.
She sends you all her best/
Still messing about, been many years since I was last in MS.

    Getting nowhere with mint WiFi
    Help
    me please!
Itis very good to be back home!

Mint should already have the drivers you need.

What model Dell is it? What WiFi adapter? How do you know it doesn't work with Mint?

Try Linux Mint 21. I believe your problem is that you are running an older kernel that doesn't have the necessary drivers.

Daniel, can you not put your old Mint installation on the old disk drive into the new machine? If you can, maybe you can boot it and your problem is solved.

Another thing, what happened to the other computer? It seems strange that it would just die. Which part failed, and is it worth it to replace that part?

As I remember that was a Z77 board and a good processor, it would be a shame to give up on it. The main parts were good gear.

Glad to hear. I ran into a problem similar to that with something here (can't remember what now) and had to select a newer kernel than the 'default' Mint kernel at the time.

Power supply is the most likely candidate, other stuff doesn't usually go 'poof' and fail suddenly. Do you have an old spare laying around you can test with?

Power supplies take a beating when the line voltage dips frequently, or for extended periods of time. I'm guessing that where you are, this is a common problem.

I must have installed Mint a hundred times. (I have a strange sense of fun )As I use my Big screen TVs
as monitor Mint always first boots in teny- tiny everything. So with nose stuck to my monitors I would search out th fastest was to get descent size.

As I do eveything from my bed, (not sick, just enjoy life more that way.)
My monitors are 8 to 10 feet away.
WHY WHY WHY don't they just go by monitor size???
    NOW THEY DO!!!!

In Mint 21 just go to "Display" and set up by simply picking your monitor size!

    Ah....speaking of power

I feel I should warn you that my power to communicate is largely dependent upon
what we have come to know to be completely undependable mountain power lines that fall prey to falling trees (snow) Lowland drivers (snow) and mud slides (melting snow) and falling snow on the lines..
I'm here when I can be and am hard at work learning patience whenever I am not.
This is where I come for fellowship and to discuss the truths of life.
There is no where else I'd rather be.
    ,
I don't bother to mention black outs that last less than two days

My devotion to our fellowship remains a mainstay of my life on Earth

Thank you for being my friends.

It is GREAT to see Daniel on the board! Gosh Gizmo, I sure hope that Sue is feeling better. Maybe sleeping on the couch isn't such a good idea. And this deal with your hips sounds painful!

So Dan, when do you get to move into your new trailer? It certainly looks very nice, sorry you had to live in the old same place for so long! Is Patti taking pain killers now? God I hope so!
Re-read about that yew tree crashing down, holy turdamatics that sure was close!

Aren't you old enough for Medicare now? Maybe they can spring to fix your eye or eyes?
