I have had this game since release around 2001. For a very long time, I could not get to run in linux or later versions of windows. It now runs nicely on Linux Mint 21.1 using Lutis. All that needed to be done in Lutris is just follow the promts.I did have to link Lutris to the cd autorun.exe. Maybe could have used something else but this works. Very happy.

I've never played Black & White but isn't it awesome that Linux can handle it just fine?
I've had the same experience, some games won't run in Windows but Wine and Proton can do it.
Normally Windows has great backwards compatibility, but there are some games that DirectX or video drivers stop supporting.

I remember Far Cry having some strange graphical issues in Windows because of Nvidia drivers and never found a fix, but in Linux Wine was able to handle it just fine.
