Hello Booman, I am relatively new to Ubuntu, I've been looking all over for some games or something to play, coming from windows thinking gaming would be the same, But I do like it. I've had a few problems I tried playing LoL and PoE on Ubuntu and when I get in game all of the colors are to dark and I can't really see anything, besides a dark screen and maybe a few UI outlines but thats it. I have no idea whats causing itIm stuck... I also wanted to try Drakensang Online and was wondering if you posted a guide to install?

    Mod edit:
Moved from Enclave Guide thread on the front page.
Try to stay on topic, and don't hijack threads, please.

I really need to post a new Guide for Drakensang because it runs beautifully!
    And its totally FREE!

    Its as simple as:
    1. Download Wine 1.6.2 through PlayOnLinux
    2. Download the thinclient.exe from DrakensangOnlineSetup.com
    3. Launch PlayOnLinux
    4. Click Install
    5. Click "Install a non-listed program"
    6. Check "Install in a new virtual drive"
    7. Name your virtual drive: drakensang
    8. Check all options
    9. Select Wine 1.6.2
    10. Select "32 bits windows installation"
    11. Applications Tab: Select Windows 7
    12. Graphics Tab: Check capture mouse and virtual desktop
    13. Set Desktop size: 1024x768
    14. Check these packages:
      POL_Install_corefonts
      POL_Install_d3dx9
      POL_Install_tahoma
    15. Click Browse and find the thinclient.exe
    16. Follow the instructions
    17. Create a PlayOnLinux shortcut
    18. Launch Game
That should be about it, without screenshots of course.

Preloader? Once the thin client is installed, you just launch with the shortcut.
If it isn't launching to the login screen
Once you login, click on the server you want to play on
If it has problems after that, then you probably need 32-bit libraries or video drivers for your video card/chip

I see what you were talking about. I loaded into the game and got this error message. I'm trying to learn about Ubuntu, but the only game I have successfully downloaded and played is hearthstone. And I've been at it for a few months.

yeah, that has to be a driver problem.
I have a feeling the proprietary drivers are not installed.
What video card/chip do you have?

There is a name for the integrate graphics controller. I hate how companies won't tell you.
    Normally they have names like:
    • HD 3000
    • HD 4000

If your GPU is an HD 2000 or 3000 then probably not.
I've tried Drakensang on my Chromebook and it would not run.
You could try Wakfu: Here is a guide

Otherwise, you can only play older games or 2D games
I've ran games in Ubuntu 12.04 like:
    • Torchlight (PlayOnLinux)
    • Din's Curse (native)
    • Drox Operative (native)
    • Rune Classic (native)
    • Lugaru HD (Steam)
    • Duke Nukem 3D (PlayOnLinux)
    • Hexen (PlayOnLinux)
    • Heretic (PlayOnLinux)
    • Arx Fatalis (PlayOnLinux)
    • Gish (PlayOnLinux)
    • World of Goo (Steam)
    • Penumbra: Overture (PlayOnLinux)
    • Half-Life (Steam)
    • Quake (PlayOnLinux)
Pretty much any DOS game will run in the Linux DosBox: Guide here

So lots of games to play, just no modern games.
If you want to play modern games, start looking at purchasing a desktop with an Nvidia GeForce video card.
This will get your best results for gaming.
    I wouldn't spend any less than $500-$600

The GeForce 750 Ti is a perfect card for gaming on desktop.
Keep an eye out for it

Wakfu is pretty fun and FREE.
It is turn-based combat, which isn't my favorite, but still fun.
The only problem I had with my Chromebook is I couldn't read the text. The fonts were garbled.

    Any success with Wakfu?

Also, there are some current problems with Drakensang. Even after I did the guide a month ago, now I'm getting QT5 errors when launching the game.

Hey Booman, any luck getting to the bottom of why Drakensang all of a sudden won't work?
