Why We Want Native Ports Only (Gaming On Linux)

On steam, I think how they count system sales is which system you are on when you buy the game. It's quite possible that they also have a system for seeing which system people download & play on as well. Whenever I see a Linux game I want when I'm on my Windows box I boot up Linux and buy it in...

Why We Want Native Ports Only (Gaming On Linux)

The only true way to support Linux games is to buy games on Linux. I think that using WINE is pretty much irrelevant. Using dual-boot is a bit of a concern though, but people will decide for themselves what they want to do. I dual-boot with Windows 7, but the only games I play there is Guild...

    1080P MONITOR OO:

I haven't head any problems since I got it. The colour is good & neutral, there isn't any dead pixel or edge shadowing. I'm very happy with it. Acer makes great monitors.

I have an Acer monitor as well.

    1080P MONITOR OO:

That's a pretty crazy price for a 23 inch full hd monitor. I've had a 25 inch full hd monitor for some time now. I think it cost maybe double that amount. The next screen I'm going to buy will be a 30 or 34 inch monitor.

Why We Want Native Ports Only (Gaming On Linux)

I don't mind having ports as long as it's a good port, but a native will always be better.

DirectX 11 is coming to Linux thanks to CodeWeavers and Wine

Yeah, that's pretty cool. The fact that Linux is getting so much support recently must mean that a lot of companies think that Linux is the future. Speaking of DirectX, I'm really excited about Vulkan. Note that there are lot of big companies working on Vulkan...

DirectX 11 is coming to Linux thanks to CodeWeavers and Wine

Well, despite my comments I'm somewhat optimistic. Every month we see more and more games getting Linux versions, and most of these are from indie developers.

DirectX 11 is coming to Linux thanks to CodeWeavers and Wine

I see one negative thing about this. Could mean that people make ports instead of natives. I wonder how dx11 games will run though, seeing how many dx9 games require a lot of tinkering to get to run in wine, and even then it's usually far from flawless. Not that I'm expecting that though.

    How's it going?

Yeah I know, what I meant was that they keep changing things so often that for every new Windows release your previous experience doesn't matter that much.

    How's it going?

The conditions in some of the dev companies are horrible as well. I've heard that it's pretty horrible to work as a dev for ubisoft, and I can't say that I'm surprised.. I've mostly given up on new entertainment. Most of it is milked unoriginal crap with lots of explosions, 50 minutes head...

    How's it going?

Well, these companies suffer for it as well. Because finding someone with all the experience and knowledge in all those areas isn't easy.

    Batman: Arkham Knight June 23rd

I don't think it was tested on any PC. It doesn't run bad on some PCs, but all of them in varying degrees. Really high end PCs with titan x and such can get away with it, but it's still the issue of being poorly optimized, and missing textures, some crashing (although it's much less frequent on...

    Porting Dying Light to Linux

Now you remind me why I hate capitalists. I think that any company who make software/games and don't plan for multi platform are morons. If you do the planning first, and prepare for it so all is set, if you want to make it cross platform it won't be much of an issue later. But obviously...

    How's it going?

Haha. Like experience in Windows matters any more. That's the answer I've given a few times. Things aren't that hard to learn, but nope. It seems every business out there will have people who is ready to work, with all the experience needed for a flawless job. Businesses are getting rather...

    Porting Dying Light to Linux

When you have a few people who can do the port in a not so significant amount of time it kinda goes against the argument about money.
