Do you still have Swordsman installed? Have you tried allowing it to patch recently to see if it is running now?

    Neverwinter Free MMO Guide

Yes the patching is big, but Linuxnoob is right, the initial loading of neverwinter at the Cryptic screen can take at least 15 minutes. It doesn't happen every time, but its very misleading and makes you think the game isn't working. I have not tried turning off "on-demand patching" or turning...

    Libre vs MS Office

Agreed! Its impossible for a company to switch from MS Office to Libre when they have a lot of complicated stuff. Sometimes I wonder if I used Libre Calc and created some complicated spreadsheets and saved them in its own Libre format, would it work then? Would those spreadsheets keep all the...

    Libre vs MS Office

Hey it worked! Now we have our own thread debating Libre and MS Office You are right about compatibility. If its simple spreadsheet and paragraphs, Libre works fine with MS Office, but if you have a lot of formulas, graphics, tables, formatting, there will be some problems. I found that if...

    Libre vs MS Office

We are way past derailing Daerandin's wireless rant! I love Libre cause its free and backwards/forwards compatible with all Office formats. I kinda wish they had an email client like Outlook available. I rarely use it, but if I need to make a spreadsheet or quick document, I either go to...

[Tips] Running Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance with no flickering or screen problems

Yeah, I've used the newer Wine with a few problematic games and it seems to run much better. One day I'll go back and test Crysis 2, Alan Wake and some other games that just flat-out-failed

    Broadcom wireless

Let us know if the USB Wifi does the job for ya Unfortunately I have to go back to Windows when I'm at work. I've thought about using Linux as work, but there are a few proprietary IT programs I need to use. Outlook too :(

    Broadcom wireless

I agree, but my ancient 4-year old laptop doesn't even have a working battery. So its just a nice compact computer for the family. Wire it in and enjoy. Ethernet is always more consistent anyways. As for my Chromebook, I use it at work, church and when I'm out. so wireless is necessary.

    Broadcom wireless

Then its practically a new computer! At least compared to my laptop Were you using Arch from the beginning? I was barely just starting to use Linux on an every day basis back then. Almost two years ago, but I decided that I would stick with a desktop for my main computer. Now I have Ubuntu on...

So Dreamfall The Longest Journey is the first one? I've seen it many times and didn't pay a lot of attention. I kinda assumed it was a low budget point-n-click Now I will keep my eye on it Thanks

    A Week of Arch Linux

Gotcha I'll remember to try ext4 next time I format an external hard drive. I have always used FAT32 because its Windows/Mac/Linux compatible, but now I mostly use it for Linux backups

I still don't fully grasp what CSMT does. I've tried it a on a few games (with the registry edit to enable) and still didn't notice any difference.

    A Week of Arch Linux

Steam games shouldn't be a problem on FAT32 because game files are normally not larger than 4GB. Unless they have zip/compressed files with game data in them. I rarely see this in game design. I know it happens, but it seems rare. I bet most of your games will fit on a FAT32 as long as you...

    Broadcom wireless

Ethernet Ethernet Ethernet Yay! That really sucks! Yet another reason for Win/Mac users to not switch to Linux. Do you think Ubuntu and Mint inherit the same problem with that chip? I know Ethernet isn't the best solution for a portable computer, but we all know its the fastest and most secure...
