30? That's good progress. Only ten days from audio happiness.
What do you think of the sound quality? I will make a bet that, over time, you will 'feel' it.
Glad I could help you, m'man.
Well, if you actually go through with it and rip to FLAC, you won't need anything else, and the audio quality is the best available. You will also find that all the major players will play FLAC files, so there isn't any problem with that.
I'm an audio purist [read 'snob'] :) So, for me, it's always 2-channel stereo, and analog playback when possible. I have never experimented with more than a 2 speaker array for playback [other than subwoofer systems], so I can't have an opinion. I do know that the music you listen to on CD was...
No idea about 5.1, have never used it.
Why do you need so many file formats? I'm still confused, lolz
And yes, FLAC will take longer to encode than mp3, for sure. That's normal.
Yup. It looks like the end of the road for old Bessie.
Not a terrible thing though, I really do like my Razer better. Guess I'll have to dig into my pocket.
Directly to FLAC is the way to go.
I'm not sure why you actually need multiple formats of each CD, though. Is there a compelling reason for all that work that I have missed? Why not go directly to FLAC and play them from there, forever?
You can make a single file for an entire album, and use...
Yeah, I think you mean Ogg Vorbis, which is a lossy format. I think that you are aware that the purpose of lossy formats is not file fidelity - it's file compression. You can strike a fair balance between the two by tweaking the encoding settings, but the data loss is there, nonetheless. [and...
I'm not an 'expert' on file formats, but I have investigated them in the past, and I know what sounds good to me. If any of the technical info I give you isn't quite correct, I hope someone will chime in, although I doubt the information would be radically wrong.
As I remember, .ogg isn't...
I rip CDs directly to FLAC, which I find to be a superior format. The files tend to be on the big side, but not as big as .wav files.
FLAC is a lossless format, and there is very little if any noticeable difference between a properly created FLAC file and the original CD. I was in the high...
I can only add what I told you in the other forum already - like Aedan said, xorg.conf is pretty much a thing of the past these days, but if you do have to edit it and save the edits with that nvidia-settings utility, you will have to run it as root.
Are you doing that, or are you starting it...
Yeah, Iooked at them, but they want too much since they are all working KBs. I was hoping to find a 'parts-only' item, but I might have to buy a working one.
Anyone with the above keyboard, or who has a friend with one not in use, please contact me in this thread or by PM. Working or not. I need some parts to refurbish mine; will pay for shipping and the trouble as long as the parts I need are working.
In actuality I don't need the whole thing...
There is a lot of mystery surrounding his death, including a post indicating that he was going to commit suicide on Monday. This follows his arrest and release on bail Sunday in San Francisco:
