Try launching Resident Evil with "Debug" instead of "Run"
This way a window will appear and show you all the backend errors and bugs. Post it here...
I'm not sure why the installer is getting stuck. Does it ever finish?
I've seen games install really slow and others really fast. It depends...
Good point about 64-bit. WMP might not run in a 64-bit environment. Its still worth a try, even without the video's
Can you post an entire debug with all the errors?
By the way, after the cutscenes when it crashes, is the actual 3D game supposed to begin? or is there more cutscenes?
Try using Wine 1.8-d3d_doublebuffer
I've used these "doublebuffer" patched versions of Wine for game that have memory leaks like Crysis 2. It has proven to work but doesn't fix everything.
You could also try using a 64-bit virtual drive and 64-bit Wine, but in the past have proven not to be as...
Thanks, I hope our guides have been helpful.
The goal is to always help the Windows gamer migrate to Linux without too much trouble. Some of the guides are quite long, but most of these game work perfectly.
I've heard a few hardcore guru's love Arch Linux because you have to setup everything...
I absolutely agree with the driver situation. Its still happening today. Some games that run in Windows and Linux, still run faster in Windows. Why would any gamer choose Linux for gaming if the games run better in Windows?
At least this is what I hear on reddit a lot
He he, still using Fedora on my home server. :D
I will always have a place in my heart for Fedora. Its not best for Gaming, but it does great for the server here and there. At least the experience has given me comfort in CentOS and Redhat
I was helping a fellow gamer on reddit with HPL3 editor and actually got it to run in PlayOnLinux
Now you can import your own content and create your own mods for SOMA
SuSE was pretty good. That was the first distro I ever used. It has a pretty simple user interface and the YAST tool for installing updates. I only scraped the surface with SuSE because I didn't really know what to do with it. I couldn't use it on a daily basis.
I think someone recommended...
Cool, looks like he knows what he is doing
As far as I can tell, the "staging" versions have some extra features and patches that are stable but not supported by Wine developers. Some day I hope Wine developers will include them because these patches fix a lot of games and issues that...
Sure can... there is more than one way to install a game... or even run a game.
I'm glad you can setup a virtual drive and run executables without having to install them. There are a lot of games that don't have an installer, so this works perfectly.
Enjoy
Yes, just created a virtual drive in PlayOnLinux by going to Configure first. Click New and then name the virtual drive. After that you will still have to do the wine configuration and add components:
corefonts
d3dx9
tahoma
Then all you do is extract all the Humble Bundle files into the...
Yeah, I've used Fedora intermittently for almost 10 years. But that was just for hosting games. I barely used it except when I hosted LAN Parties and needed to backup some files.
I like Ubuntu, but Mint Cinnamon desktop is so much easier to use. Creating shortcuts, system settings, panel...
I have a feeling unemployment won't pay the bills. I hated school anyways...
I have learned WAY more on-the-job than I every did in school. So I'm applying for IT jobs in Arizona. I've already applied for 10 jobs.
