did you navigate to the DVD first? in Mint it is/media/username/SKYRIM_EN
Once you are in the DVD directory in Terminal, then run the ./Setup.exe -no-dwrite
Also, if it still says "cannot execute Binary file" you may have to copy the entire DVD contents to a folder on your desktop.
Then try...
Ah, I can help you with that. First make sure to use Wine 1.5.18 and then install all the dotnet libraries you need. Then switch to Wine 1.7.8 to install Origin and then the game.
1.5.18 is renown for not crashing during the dotnet installations.
I've experienced it myself... Not sure what...
He's right. All the games on Desura are DRM free, so they should be able to release a stand-alone version.
I use Moddb.com and Desura on a regular basis. I have a feeling they will be fixing this problem, specially if its wide-spread.
Maybe there are some internal problems/changes or they are...
have you actually downloaded an entire game in Origin?
I have BF3 on DVD, but it has a different key. I've already activated my key on Origin, so it shouldn't really matter.
I never use scripts. Manual installation for me every time!
But I can use the libraries in the script for my manual installation.
Sounds like it runs in Wine 1.5.28-Origin
Thats all I need to know....
I have read that downloading games in Origin has some deficiencies, but does work.
Xpander was able to run Elder Scrolls Online Beta in Wine.
wine 1.7.11-d3dstream(CSMT)
This is a good sign because as far as I've read, Bethseda isn't interested in a Linux port.
I have yet to install Battlefield 3, Sims 3 or Medal of Honor.
Mostly because they run in Origin and I don't want to mess with it in Linux.
But I eventually will and see how well they run.
I've only heard bad things recently, but havn't messed with their games.
Wow I really doubt it has been neglected for 3 years. I've never heard of Desurium...
Not sure whats going on. Sad to see the developers aren't looking into it.
How about eBeer?
There should be something we can do to celebrate...
We have almost 30 thousand views just for League of Legends guide and many guides have over 1000 views... so the world knows we are here and making a difference.
Maybe the best way to celebrate is with a game?
Free Game?
Actually I loaded up Desura (offline) over the weekend and played TRI
So it must be related to an update.
That forum post goes back to Feburary... hopefully Desura won't let the bug continue for a month.
I'll have to load it up and see what happens on my chromebook.
Keep us updated
I know its probably stupid, but we should do something when we hit 100 Guides.
I think it a huge accomplishment to have 100 Guides for 100 Games in PlayOnlinux and Linux. That is a heck-of-a-lot of testing...
What do you guys think?
What could we do for a celebration?
Awesome Guide! I'm glad Witcher 2 runs great in PlayOnLinux.
It amazing that you can actually run it at 1920x1080
Did you try any other Wine versions other than 1.7.5?
I'm just curious if the newer ones worked?
I love that configuration tool... almost too many options... wow
Normally I'll install a second terabyte drive just for backing up. This way the backups are super fast and still internally available for quick restores. Also, if you wanted to be really secure, setup an external USB 3.0 drive that you can take with you offsite just in case there was a natural...
Great, I really like the details in fighting, leveling, sowing & seeding. The put a lot of work in this game. My daughter likes it as well. She's 6 years old, so Wakfu is great for all ages.
Wow, did they have to reinvent the wheel or something?
Offline should be a serious consideration for every game. I mostly play games offline anyways. So I try to stay away from online only games unless its an MMO
