    Shadow of Mordor on Linux

I have been playing this game for some hours now, it seems to run without any issues and I have very good performance too. The game itself is pretty awesome too!

    Windows 10...

Personally, I always use a VPN, and stay away from closed source software whenever I can.

    HUGE Laptop & Linux

I've been doing a bit of reading, and from what I can see, Upstart can't be configured to run services on wakeup from suspend. However, there is another way ensure your sound is working after suspend, we simply put a shell script inside /etc/pm/sleep.d/ with the correct syntax to ensure it only...

    HUGE Laptop & Linux

That would work well as long as the system only have one user, otherwise you would need to set it up in everyone's .xinitrc and also remember to do it for any new user accounts. I always prefer to set such things up through a startup service in the init system. But as this is booman's computer...

    Windows 10...

I have to use Windows for the studies, but thankfully I do not use my other laptop for any other purpose than the Windows only software I require. One thing I find funny is how a lot of people don't seem to think this is a problem, but the same people would freak out if anyone went through...

    HUGE Laptop & Linux

That's a HUGE laptop, more like a portable desktop. I have zero experience with AMD gpu's, but from what I have heard you are better off with the open source drivers, especially if the alternative is older AMD proprietary drivers. Unless you need good performance for games, I would definitely...

    Shadow of Mordor on Linux

I bought this during the SteamOS sale on Steam some time ago when it was announced that it would be available on Linux. I'll definitely be downloading it later today. And I do hope the sale during the SteamOS sale registered as Linux sales, especially since I have not downloaded this game...

    Steamwebhelper.exe Crash

I always use the POL_Install_steam library for my Steam installs, all it does is fix the no text issue, while also installing the corefonts package along with Steam. Otherwise there is no difference from manually downloading Steam yourself and installing manually. Currently running with Wine...

    Steamwebhelper.exe Crash

I am also seeing this error, but it does not affect how games run. I can still play games without problem. So unless it is preventing you from playing the game, you can safely ignore this error.

Champions Online - Moving game files from Windows to Wine

You could always install windows in Virtualbox, just to get the game installed. It would save you from having do dual-boot, and moving files to your host Linux system would also be easier to do from virtualbox.

    Orbiter Space Flight Simulator Guide

This guide has been updated to the newest wine version available, as well as a bit of refinement on some of the steps. Runway lights also work perfectly with the newest wine version, and the MFD displays work correctly without needing to set GDI compatibility in video settings. The guide has...

    Games on i3 Arch Linux

Hey guys, sorry about being so quiet lately. Studies have been more demanding this year than what I expected. And while looking at an open source alternative to what we learn in my studies (asp.net web development) I came across Django and have been reading up on django development. So I got...

    Battle.net White screen problem.

What is your windows version set to for this virtual drive? Have you attempted to use XP? It's been a while since I last ran the battle.net client in wine, but I do know that at least in the past it would fail to run if you used Win7 as windows version in wine.

    Installing Resident Evil 5!

Don't expect any help from Capcom on this issue, you are playing the game on an unsupported platform.

    Starcraft II Guide

There should be no problems using 64-bit wine for this game. My own install that I am using is 64-bit. However, I was not aware that Starcraft 2 had a 64-bit executable.

    Installing Resident Evil 5!

People are here frequently, the lack of replies probably just means that nobody have any help to offer at the moment. When it comes to certain games in Wine, it takes patience as the solution may be difficult.

    Minecraft

Are you still using Arch Linux? If so, tell us what java packages you have installed. Using OpenJDK 8 with Minecraft is known to cause problems. You should stick with jdk7-openjdk. If you are on Arch you also need to set the default java environment through the command archlinux-java set

    PlayOnLinux 4.2.7 bugs

Strange that you are not having those problems then. I contacted the PoL devs as soon as I noticed these bugs and they had already gotten reports from several other people regarding these issues. In any case, I'm not doing any new installs until the next version.

    Darksiders I & II on GOG.com

I think it comes from GOG's quality focus. They actually play through their games on the supported platforms before making them available. But why that would take longer for Linux is something I'm not sure of.
