I will test this game once again to see if things work for me. As booman said, please post your debug output when running this game as it might give us clues as to what is causing your problem.
Optirun is from Bumblebee, while primusrun is Nvidia's proprietary method of handling Intel/Nvidia graphics. The most important difference from what I have read is that using bumblebee and optirun saves more energy.
I did notice from the error message you posted that PlayOnLinux is already...
I am not sure what my first PC game was. I recall playing some old rpg's on Amiga back in the late 80's and early 90's. I did play Eye of the Beholder on Amiga, as well as the very first release of Quest for Glory 1. Back then QFG1 was actually released under Hero's Quest, but they had to change...
Great to hear that things are working!
I still have not found a way to make those runway lights work with the newest dx9 client for Orbiter, but I have not given up yet.
I just wanted to add that I believe you should start PlayOnLinux from terminal with the command:
optirun playonlinux
As that will ensure that all games you run from PlayOnLinux will in fact use your nvidia card. But as I said, I don't have any experience with such a setup so there may be other...
I've done a bit of testing with Orbiter on Arch. The D3dx9 client has a newer release than in my guide, which no longer have the option that was needed to make runway lights visible when running this in Wine. I also ran this with wine version 1.7.39. There was no longer any need to set the GDI...
I don't know much about Mint, but it has been a while since I last tested Orbiter so I am going to set it up again.
My first tip is always to try one of the newest wine versions. However, since you seem to experience the problem only with Mint then it definitely seems to be something odd going...
I does not bother me to have a Linux version released later than the windows version, what matters is the fact that they are going to do a Linux version.
Just noticed that if I had actually checked Aryvandaar's original link, I would have seen the sale sooner.
In any case, of the three games I want, only The Witcher 3 does not have Linux mentioned on the store page for the game. Arkham Knight and Shadow of Mordor are confirmed. I still consider...
There is a sale on Steam now, featuring SteamOS games!
http://store.steampowered.com/sale/steamos_sale
A lot of upcoming games are on this list. I seriously doubt they would have this sale if it was not confirmed. All three games I wished for are in the sale. I have already pre-purchased...
To my knowledge, no developer of any Linux distribution is attempting to create "open source Windows". Compatibility with binary files compiled for a different operating system is probably not something anyone even cared to think about because the amount of work required is quite immense. And...
I can try to explain it somewhat easier. Basically, and program needs to interact with the hardware in order to actually do something. It is the CPU that executes stuff, your memory store temporary values that a program use while running. But the software does not interact directly with the...
Great idea for a new thread!
The goal of the Wine project is to be able to run all windows applications on Linux, however it is something that I don't think you can ever realistically expect to achieve. On the bright side, we seem to be able to get more and more games running as Wine seem to...
Arkham Knight will require DX10 at least, so it will not run in Wine. So I really hope to see it released for Linux. I love the other Arkham games and I don't want to miss out on the next game, the trailers look awesome.
More native games would be really great.
I am desperately trying to contain myself here, The Witcher 3 is something I REALLY want to see on Linux, and Arkham Knight would be awesome too. Not to mention Shadow of Mordor.
I'm happy if just Witcher 3 is true, I'll live if the rest does not come to Linux.
I'll definitely set this up when I have the time. The external hard drives connected to the Pi and accessible only on my local network through Samba. I could even automate this, make a script that checks every sunday or so for the availability of the external drive over Samba. If it is available...
I found some better information here:
http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlay
So this is well known since WineHQ got a page specifically about this. A lot of games are on that list, it says Heroes 4 got a work around on the list so I will do some more digging later this week.
