    GOG Implementing DRM?

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/on_gnulinux_has_anyone_be_able_to_extract_the_rar_innosetup_installers/post470 Read their full response in the link above. I will quote a few paragraphs here:

GOG is really behind Linux games

I've been using GOG since the beta startup years ago. I get the impression that they focus a bit too much on creating the "hassle-free" installers. Before they started selling Linux versions too, they would often state when asked about Linux that it was a very difficult platform because of the...

    Starcraft II Guide

Starcraft 2 is not that old, 2010. As for drivers, there does not exist proprietary drivers for Intel cards. Intel themselves provides open source drivers for Linux.

Age of Empires 2 HD Guide

I just tested it myself and it does indeed crash if the virtual desktop resolution is less than 1024*768. I will include this in the guide.

Age of Empires 2 HD Guide

As for the category, since this a lot of the focus in this game is on efficient building and resource management, I'd say this is more of a strategy game, definitely not a role playing game.

Age of Empires 2 HD Guide

I don't even care to guess how many hours I've spent playing years ago. I actually forgot to include the steps for the overlay, thanks for pointing that out. I still get crashes with overlay enabled. I'll edit the guide to include those steps. @mrdeathjr28 I'll try what you mention about the...

    Starcraft II Guide

The battle.net client is continuously updated, so it could simply be that you need to use a newer wine version, like 1.7.33. However, I am unsure if you will be able to play games with Intel cards on Linux. In any case, you are not likely to ever get Starcraft 2 running with an Intel card. The...

Age of Empires 2 HD Guide

Age of Empires 2 is an old classic among strategy games. You advance through different medieval stages where your available troops and technologies become better as you advance in "age". The game features a lot of historical single player campaigns, as well as random maps and a map editor...

    Crowdfunding for Half-Life 3 harassment?

If you pledged money, and the project was successfully funded, you can contact Kickstarter about it. Kickstarter is not responsible for the projects that try to raise funding there, Kickstarter simply provide a place where people can ask for funding. This is stated on the Kickstarter website...

Use JPGs instead of PNGs in guides

I'll be using jpg's from now on, it's something that simply didn't cross my mind previously.

    GOG Implementing DRM?

It could be that is just fails in older Wine versions. Those who reported that the new installers fail, did not specify which Wine versions were used. Personally I find it an inconvenience that the new installers prevent extracting the game files as easily as before.

    GOG Implementing DRM?

I have not tested any of the installers that implement this, but the posts I have seen claim that the new installers do not work in Wine. Meaning that GOG games can't be installed through Wine anymore. I can't see this as anything else than an implementation of DRM in their installers...

    Steam client security lock

If you have it disabled, you should never require any verification even if logging in from a new computer.

    Steam client security lock

You need to specifically enable Steam Guard, it is not on by default. It gives you a second layer of protection, meaning that if someone got a hold of your password, they still would not be able to log in to your Steam account on a different computer without also having access to your email...

    Crowdfunding for Half-Life 3 harassment?

I'm up for that, how much for the limited special collectors edition pledge tier? I am admittedly making fun of myself right now. I've pledged to five crowdfunded projects. The thing with crowdfunding is that just about anyone can start such a project, and it really is up to the backer to...

    Broadcom wireless

I had forgotten about ndiswrapper! I used it very briefly before the Broadcom Linux driver supported my card, but my wireless was horribly unstable when using ndiswrapper with my particular card so I quickly gave up on that.

I have a different version of the nvidia driver, but this is the content of this directory on my system, along with the content of the files. $ ls -1 /usr/share/nvidia nvidia-application-profiles-343.36-key-documentation nvidia-application-profiles-343.36-rc $ cat...

    Broadcom wireless

Hardware compatibility is generally always better in Arch than any other distro since it always use the latest kernel available. Most other distros have a kernel that is often up to several months old, sometimes over a year old. If you have hardware that does not work with another distro...
