    Asian invasion

The problem with endangered tuna is that the big Japanese players are intentionally trying to fish them to extinction, whilst packing their freezers full of it in big warehouses. Where I live is close to sea level.

    Asian invasion

We've just had to ban the landing of endangered Bluefin tuna by sports fishermen. Never caught before, so it wasn't illegal. Then a pair of idiots went out and caught one, presumably after reading about French fishermen catching them near here.

    Asian invasion

These Asian hornets are now established locally, over 30 nests found and destroyed so far this year. The hunt and kill pollinators such as bees which is a significant problem. They build nests just about anywhere from the ground up. The photo show 2 hornets in a pheromone trap, plus a bunch of...

    Snowden Movie

It's the same in the UK, politicians have certain parliamentary privileges. I can see why they have some form of protection, otherwise it would be all too easy for someone to set them up for a fall. But, if someone is clearly abusing their privileges they should be kicked out. Immunity should...

    Snowden Movie

I'd be a lot happier if the news was simply written by actual journalists. I mean those who have bothered to look up the word journal in a dictionary! Just give me a record of the facts about what happened today. I don't want their personal views or opinions. I can't help but think the news...

    Snowden Movie

I don't know whether or not Russia has been controlling certain people from the very beginning, or if they're simply providing safety and assistance to them after the fact, in order to rub it in the faces of Western governments. I used to support Wikileaks in the early days, but now I am not so...

    Snowden Movie

Snowdon seems to me to be nothing more than a disgruntled employee, or an actual traitor who was working with Russia. There's nothing smart or clever about stealing your employers data, very easy to do, like a shop worker stealing from the cash register. Most people don't do these things, not...

The Marvel stuff is good. Some of the best writers work in comic books, they seem to have more creative minds than some writers who work on the stuff for grown-ups!

    The state of our nation

The Clinton's have made 100s of millions since leaving office. Surely that's all the payments done for all the favors they did whilst in office. The payments for "speaking engagements" are just the loop hole for bribes. They're just as corrupt as the Trumps. Perhaps Hillary would have been...

    The state of our nation

I struggle to see how that case has any chance of success. Following their logic it would mean that if a foreign politician bought Obama's autobiography whilst he was in power, he would have also been in violation. I'm sure 1000s of them did buy his book. And, they're quoting stuff from a 1776...

Black Mirror is a good anthology series on Netflix. They call it "original" but first shown on Channel 4 in the UK 4 years earlier.

Thailand: 12 teenagers lost in cave, 9 days now. Say a prayer, please

Also, if you were rescuing say a small child or baby from an air pocket in a capsized ship such a device might be the only way to get them out.

Thailand: 12 teenagers lost in cave, 9 days now. Say a prayer, please

It doesn't look well suited to tight cave passages. It could block the way if it became stuck. But, possibly useful in rescues where there's more space for it, and the journey out is much shorter.

Thailand: 12 teenagers lost in cave, 9 days now. Say a prayer, please

Of course intentions and motivations are taken in to consideration, at least in this country. I don't know how all these things work in Thailand. Even in the UK which has strict laws regarding things like this, it would be very unlikely that he would end up in jail anyhow. Holding people to...

Not sure there's such thing as normal with such caves. They're formed by the flow of water, and their form and the flow of water can change at any point in time. Boulders and silt gets moved around passages become blocked and unblocked, and so on.

Caving can be perfectly safe when done right. But, looks like he didn't do one single thing right. The Scouts take kids caving all the time without incident.

So, it looks like 6 boys are out with the remaining boys and coach to be rescued as soon as the divers have rested, or sooner if the rain worsens.
