If they do have to stay in there until October then the more engineers they have the better. They'll need to keep pumping water out, and air in. At least these Space X guys will have access to expensive machines that can make custom parts.

I have trained as far as diver rescue. I can't see that the boys will be able to dive/swim out under their own steam. The are in a weakened physical state, and even a fit and healthy adult would find such a long dive quite exhausting, even the coldness of the water drains energy fast. But...

That's why they build these mining setups in Iceland, free cooling and cheap renewable electricity. But, I don't think Iceland can cope with anymore electrical demand. Worldwide mining is consuming about the same amount of power as a small country.
