I need some more information on your computer... What Distro are you running? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit? What video card do you have? Did you install the drivers for the video card? Can you run other games on your computer? All of these are critical to a successful gaming experience.

Yes this is very strange behavior. Since Linux live runs fine, I'm guessing your hardware isn't the issue. So you are not able to even boot into Windows again? It sounds like something happend to the Boot Loader or somehow Grub was installed and isn't working.

Dude Bladeforce has a plethora of Linux gaming knowledge that we all need to tap into. Ironically I had a similar problem with TimeShift. I started with newer versions of Wine and it refused to launch. I had to go back to Wine 1.3 and it runs perfectly. Who knew?
