    Steam Family Sharing released

Dang, that closes the door for me. I'm mostly concerned about purchasing the game once and playing with friends offline on the same Steam account. It has worked for years, but some games have disabled it. If I have 6 computers at home in a LAN, why do I need 6 Steam accounts and 6 game...

    Neverwinter Free MMO Guide

Sounds like a driver problem. Are you able to play any other games in Linux? AMD drivers are known to be buggy depending on the Graphics chip and the Linux distro. What are you currently running?

    Loose laptop fan

Smart man! That is the way to go. The fan I replaced was on an old laptop... so I had to resort to Ebay. I have even replaced a cathode for a screen, but it was an absolute pain!

    Loose laptop fan

A couple of tips: Keep track of all the screws. I use sticky notes and label where the screws came from Don't forget to pull the battery (before you shock yourself) Use the thermal paste on both CPU and GPU chips Take some time and check for loose screws Hopefully its the exact same fan...

Notification of replies to your threads

Sure did. I do get notification, but not all of them. Now I'm getting more... My filter was "starring" the emails from gamersonlinux.com and not putting them in my inbox. That should be the culprit.

    Steam Family Sharing released

I tried the beta and basically if I want to try a game that I don't own, I have to ask for permission and the owner can't play it at the same time. Hence my "offline" question.

    Steam Family Sharing released

YES! I've waited for this moment at least 8 years! My one and only question: Can I share my games offline? If I can, then I can use one account on 6 computers and allow all of my friends to play one game.

Steam Bridge (Windows games & Wine?)

Not sure exactly, but if you modify Steam libraries, you could probably put malicious code in them and hack Steam. So its not a good idea to do it without Valve's permission

    Portal 2

Exactly, I have a feeling most of the game content, graphics, textures, models, etc do not need converting, probably most executables and programming code.

    Portal 2

Runs perfectly! Awesome! I need to post this somewhere. You can save a lot of downloading time if you already have Steam games installed in Windows. Pretty dang cool. Glad I finally tried this. Of course it probably differs game-to-game

    Portal 2

Wait a second... correction... It didn't take 3 hours, took about 15 minutes. I'm going to launch Portal 2 now and see if it runs

Does the open source community hurts game developers?

Sounds like the problem starts with Linux gamers who want to develop games. I've never understood the point-of-view where everything HAS to be open-source and free just because Linux is. Even at this point I love Linux so much I would actually pay for it. I totally agree with Daerandin because...

    Portal 2

Didn't work. LinSteam basically stripped everything that isn't native to Linux. So now I'm downloading the whole game. About 3 hours :(

Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force Guide

Star Trek Voyager is a first person sci-fi shooter based after the TV show. All of the main cast is there including their real voices as well. The plot takes place in several amazing alien ships including the Borg. Your character will have access to all the standard Trekkie weapons and the...
