But my post count is stuck at 401. I know this is nearly nothing compared to most folks, but it would be nice to keep the number up to date. Many thanks!

Argh, please ignore the above post. "402" made a liar out of me. Sorry to be a bother!

The number that can be counted is not the true number

Russell Berrtrand's "Introduction to Mathematical Philosophy" was an interesting read, as I recall; what exactly IS a number?

How do you like that? I've certainly heard of Bertrand Russel, but Russel Bertrand is news to me. Thanks Gizmo! True numbers, real numbers, imaginary numbers, prime numbers and impostor numbers all look the same to me. Math is not my strongest subject.

Sorry, Bertrand Russel, yes. It was something on the order of 35 years ago when I read it; memory's a little fuzzy.

Hey, I just turned 50, whaddaya want?! :)

Time passes more quickly as we age. I hadn't even heard of Bertrand Russell when I was fifteen, good on you!

Yeah, well, it was completely by accident. I found the book at a flea market and thought "Hey, this looks interesting".

    BTW
You seem to be stuck on 405 now. But at lest 405 is bigger than 401 in the sequential schemta of things.
    But wait!
We might just be counting those posts some algorithmic somewhere deems meaningful?

Someone post something meaningful and see if your post count goes up!

I'm at 1612 as I post this. However, the the post count isn't going to increment until you logout (it's not saved to the database until you end your session, IIRC).

[edit]Ok, so I'm wrong, my post count just went to 1613.[/edit]

Really like those Bruce Cockburn lyrics, thank you Daniel. I must have been caught between "this 'n that" when I thought my post count was stuck. No problems now, happy to say.

I'm kinda mid stream. neither going forward nor going back is possible at the moment. I hate the drugs but until the post Zoster pain lets up I'm pretty much stuck with them.

Patti's taken two days off work trying to get the fed and state governments to tell us what we are supposed to do and where we're supposed to go for subscriptions now that they closed down the pain clinic they forced me to go to and no longer allow my primary care to write subscriptions for me.

It will work out... but what a display of incompetence! Hopefully we will know more in a few days.

Darn things have been slow at GOL of late. Just wish I had more energy with which to engage folks.

I'm sorry that the cute folks in charge are making you run around like the proverbial "topless" chicken just because they have the power to make it so. T'ain't right I tells ya! Wonder if you remember the news item from maybe fifteen years ago in our fair state that said a small bunch of Laotian immigrants were growing opium poppies on a hillside near Everett? Talk about the wrong climate hereabouts! They weren't punished iirc, I guess the ptp chalked it up to tribal customs and ignorance.

I hope you feel better asap, Dan!
