    Conclusion:
Once I found out the Wine "staging" versions fixed the installer crash, I used Wine 1.7.42staging to install Jade Empire. Then I switched to Wine 1.6.2 for playing the actual game. You can still play it in 1.7.42staging, but I always prefer the "stable" version. Everything else runs fine. Every once in a while after a save/load the camera will be stuck in a vertical position and you are looking at the ground. Just quit the game and start it again.

Have you tried Proton in Steam yet?
I bet this game will run flawlessly in Proton.
  4. batmanm0b1e
@booman Actually it won't work in proton i looked and me and my friend tried. There seems to be workaround you have to do but i tried it and didn't work.

I'm unable to get the steam store to work under wine playonlinux if you can help. The only way got it to work was using outdating xp. steam store won't work under windows 7 anymore.

Dang, I hope Valve will fix this with older games.
I have a game called The Ship and it doesn't run in Proton either.

The Steam store is a known problem with windows 7 in Wine
If you already have the game in your library, then you don't need the Store functionality.

Just install Windows steam in PlayOnLinux like you normally would and then download the game

@booman Well I had it working before under windows 7 prefix with esync wine. But now something is not working.

Where is the game getting stuck at this point?
You may have to uninstall and re-download the game.
Unfortunately I don't know how to see the ouput errors in Proton
  8. batmanm0b1e
It was with playonlinux. I will post the error here
