Jet engine problem captured on film at Manchester Airport

Engine failures are not supposed to be dramatic! There's a lot of work to try to ensure even under the worst case situation really bad things don't happen. If you trawl youtube for "Blade off" you can see some of the testing that done on gas turbines.

Wonder what event caused the compressor to stall on it?
