Old Video Card Cap

What ATI & Nvidia video cards would be a good range to recommend NOT using for PC Gaming in Linux?

I have several older cards that I could test a few games on:
GeForce 7900 GT
GeForce 9800 GS
GeForce 8800 GTX

I'm curious how well the old cards perform specially when the Nvidia 310 drivers only support GeForce 8800 and up.
This means these old cards only get to use the older Nvidia drivers and can possibly kill performance for newer games.

I would be surprised, if any of those cards failed to preform because of Mint 14 Wine or POL. I think they will perform just fine...Now weather the card can heft the game you try to run is a matter of time and tides my friend.":O}

I was thinking of capping video cards at the 8800 because of the new Nvidia 310 drivers.
Just to keep things fresh... at least that is what Nvidia is doing...?

Those old cards should still work with most games and I'm NOT saying we deny we don't support them, but maybe we should keep pushing 8800's or newer because you get a WAY better gaming experience.
Maybe at some point we could have a pre 8800's subforum for supporting games.

I'm realizing that most of my success is due to the newer hardware... thats all

yes they do!
I just want to inform them before they spend hours trying to get their favorite game to run on an old card...
