I just recived an email from:

    Kalypso Media Newsletter: April 2014

Tropican Revelations: El Presidente has declared that on 23rd May 2014 Tropico 5 will be available digitally on PC, while the retail version will hit stores on 3rd June. The Xbox 360® and Mac versions will be releasing this summer with a version for the PlayStation®4 platform following in autumn. We are also working on an extensive Steam OS (Linux) version which will release with the respective new hardware.

It also said that the game is available for pre order from Steam for Mac and Win now.

Awesome! Never played it, but I'm glad they are giving Linux some attention.

Also Fireaxis announced that Civilization:BE (Beyond Earth) is coming in the fall and they are working on a Linux version! No release date announced yet for the Linux version. I am guessing they mean Steam for Linux. I noticed that Electronic Arts was at the Steam for Linux developer's conference this year so maybe that means they are at finally thinking about doing some ports. Looks like the finale barriers to the big name companies are finally starting to fall but I am sure we will need wine and PlayOnLinux for a few more years at least.

The more games the better. All will know that Linux is another gaming platform that will eventually rival Mac

From the looks of the world market it looks like Linux will soon be king of the hill in all areas soon not just but perhaps severs, games, desktops, ect... My brother just found an article on the internet -I don't remember the source- that said that Direct x 12 was doing badly and the latest version of OpenGL was doing great! If that’s true then that will be a major boost for Linux gaming and a major set back to Windows gaming.

Microsoft seems to be the main reason people are trying out Linux.
I'm sure "free" is also beneficial as well.
