Aven Colony. My weekend attempt failed. But I should have some time tomorrow so will try it again I NEED to finally run this game, I bought it almost a year ago from GOG and still did not play it.
Ok, I see it on GOG Its definitely a Direct X 11 games for sure. So DXVK is required.... do you know if it was developed with Unreal engine or Unity engine? What hardware are you running? I'm guessing that you are using PlayOnLinux, so make sure its the newest version: 4.3.4 Also make sure to use newer versions of Wine: 4.0 or 4.4 or 4.6 Even the staging versions of Wine are useful. also, if it is a 64-bit game, then you have to create a 64-bit Virtual Drive and use a 64-bit version of Wine. And to be honest, if anyone would ask me how to make this game run, I would answer, I do not know, and it would be true. I have done so many different tweaks that I do not remember what was done %-) But I do not care, as I have backed up this prefix and tried this backup on some other machine and it still works there I'm on a little few day trip right now, far away from the machine with Aven Colony. But when I'm back, I hope to do some serious space colony building!
That is my life exactly! This is why I write guides.... its such a pain to trial-n-error and troubleshoot a game that isn't running. I've installed some games 5-10 times with different settings, different versions of Wine and different work-arounds. If it eventually runs, then I create a guide so no one else has to spend all those hour troubleshooting.
