yeah, unfortunately those older chips aren't supported a much. If we are lucky, we can use older drivers, but not in newer distros. At least that is my experience. If intel decides to support my HD2000 in Ubuntu 14.04 then I'll happily upgrade

Of course... I don't know what I was thinking  Ugh, Intel HD 3000 is pretty old. I have an Intel HD2000 on my Chromebook and it doesn't play much. It CAN play Torchlight 1 Which was a surprise to me. I can play mostly older games in Ubuntu 12. If I upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 the Intel drives...

    PlayOnLinux/Wine ALSA continuously breaking.

ah, didn't realize your headphones were plugged in via analog. So maybe the microphone is causing issues? Just unplug the microphone and run a game. If the lag goes away, then you know ALSA and Pulseaudio are conflicting with the USB audio connection.

    League of Legends Bug

The last time I tested League of Legends I didn't need IE8 anymore. Which was nice because I didn't have to set Windows version to Windows XP and I didn't have to download the Service Pack 3 either.

    Wine Staging

This is good news! I had to play Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Crysis 2 with shadows off because of performance problems. Now I want to test them again with Wine 1.7.39 staging to see if I can finally get full performance.

Lord Of The Rings Online installation

Look like the launcher needs the XML file for launching... I'm out of ideas without actually trying the game myself. How big is the entire download? Maybe I'll give it a try this weekend. I have low expectations, but its worth a try. My setup is Mint 17 64-bit with nothing special. I try to...

Oh, I didn't realize that. So what is the benefit of using Pulseaudio with ALSA instead of ALSA alone?

Allen has a complete tutorial on this subject here: Yet Another Linux Blog Wine also has some suggestions here: Wine & ALSA Have you tried using basic speaker/headphones through the analog output? I bet the USB speakers is part of the problem. Not that it should be, but ALSA fighting...

    PlayOnLinux/Wine ALSA continuously breaking.

Looks like you have a unique audio setup: USB HDA I've only ever used the analog output to my stereo system and it works beautifully. Sometimes I get the "buffer underrun" errors in PlayOnLinux logs, but its random and you don't always hear it. One fix is this: Navigate to...

Doesn't ALSA have a limitation of one program only? As in, you can't use two program with audio at the same time?

    Steam Store/Community is extremely slow.

No problem! I figure, might as well share what I've learned so others can start playing games in Linux. I'm testing Myst III Exile and it runs great. There are so many games that run in Linux. Love your avatar by the way.... Cowboy Beebop right?

Lord Of The Rings Online installation

Yes, it could be a PlayOnLinux problem, but I haven't tried LOTR online yet. I'll have to give it a try, its on my To Do list. There are some interesting guides online: LOTR in Linux I found a "workaround" for your splash screen problem. Apparently its a problem on Mac's as well. For some...

Understood. I don't hate PulseAudio but it seems to work find in Debian based systems. I would use JACK, but I really want my guides as "vanilla" as possible to simulate other gamers experience. So I'm kinda stuck with it. I still get "buffer underrun" errors from time to time

Hmm, I don't see any significant errors. Have you searched online for this problem? All I can suggest is try a newer version of WINE in PlayOnLinux: 1.7.39 1.7.39 staging
