"We sell no wine before its time" said Orson Wells in advertisements for a California winery years ago. Seems that all tv's for sale nowadays are indeed 4K capable. But does this mean that PC's and monitors have to be 4K capable now too? Dan, are you using your giant tv for a monitor nowadays?

Time to say hello to Mint 19.1 AKA Tess!

Thank you very much for your rapid reply Kaitain. I was planning on building my next machine around an AMD processor (which also means an AMD video card) because AMD's performance is kicking Intel's adze imho. Now there's confusion. Granted, I get confused about lacing up tennis shoes...

Time to say hello to Mint 19.1 AKA Tess!

This video card seems to cost as little as $60 and as much as $185. I can't imagine booman using a $60 video card. Elucidation please? Retailers seem a little confused as to its price.

Thank you greatest of Linux understanders! No, I'm supremely happy being able to play DVD's!! Summer is almost here in the Great White North (well, we are very close to Canada) which means watching the big tv becomes problematic thanks to Mr Sun (all hail!) sometimes. The PC faces east and is...

Time to say hello to Mint 19.1 AKA Tess!

I remember, maybe incorrectly that Linux always liked Nvidia cards more than AMD ones. Seems that doesn't hold true any more. Does this mean the AMD designed vidcards are finally getting a fair shake? Or something else? Should your next video card be AMD designed? And is this ONLY a Mint thang?

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

We had a 4.6 earthquake late last night. The first reference to it online I saw said "3.0." I knew they were lyin' sacks of crap. I've never ever felt a 3.0. While I was swaying north to south I actually said "I don't want to die" out loud. What effrontery!

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Mr Springsteen did a "one man show" on Broadway. It was available on Netflix, it was great. Sorry, there are quite a few videos on Netflix but that one's gone.

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Very hard to divorce this tune from the Lord of the Rings movie that "came with it." Typical Enya, which I like very much.

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Yay! Adding "lyrics' brought me to a working version of the song on Youtube. Thanks for the suggestion Dan! Awfully hard to go wrong with this group! Paul Simon was very shrewd with his choices of African voices and instrument players for Graceland. They made the LP, he's only featured now and...
