    r9 m275x driver question

Daniel~ worked very, very hard for Overclockers (hiss, boo!). He made the site lively and extremely interesting. To acknowledge his great importance to Overclockers the owners kicked him in the head one lovely morning. Booted him from the site without a "how do you do," or even one word of...

    r9 m275x driver question

Don't fret Dan~. I stopped smoking interesting stuff more than 25 years ago, but I forgot MUCH more than I remember about PC's. It was learned painfully, too. I used to insist that I knew something about computering to the friend who taught me just about everything I used to know. For instance...

You are the man, ThunderRd! Beta testing back when Hector was a pup! I don't know who Hector was, tbh, but I like that old saw. Didn't The Bill say "no one will ever need more than 64 Kb of RAM" once upon a time? His own products proved him wrong over not much time. The guy was and is...

Will someone one tell me why?

The danger from running Win 7 is that MS will "silently"( a lot of the time you just don't know that MS is updating it) to Win 10. Thanks MS, yer so danged honest!

Must admit that I really liked the Aero feature. I used it even though my Vidcard was too weak to do it according to a few sources---wait a second... my Mint Cinnamon desktop screen also has the Aero feature! I Never noticed it till now. Another good reason to say goodbye forever to the poisoned...

    r9 m275x driver question

Wow, a dual socket ECS brand AMD or Intel CPU compatible mainboard. Thank you for the memory jog, Booman! My very first machine was given to me by a friend's GF. It was a Hyundai 19 Mhz 386, nearly unknown in the USA at that time, but a very well built box. With 30-pin Memory cards. It was...

    r9 m275x driver question

I remember OCing for the very first time with a Celeron 300. The processor was inexpensive compared to Pentium processors of the same vintage (its weakness was a very small L2 Cache). It came on a rather large supporting card (hope this isn't ancient history for everyone) with four solder traces...

Will someone one tell me why?

The insults to your machine's integrity from Win 10 are fast, furious and legion. The MS corporation makes hints as to its integrity, but they are sadly, all lies. Running Win 10 is akin to putting yourself under a full body X-Ray at high power--all of the time that your computer is on. There...

Come July 29 Windows Ten (or numba ten thou, as we said once upon a time in SE Asia. It was not a compliment) people who want MS's Windows 10 will get to pay $119 for it. Holy carap. MS should pay YOU to use the snoopiest advertisingest miserable excuse for an OS. It preys upon the user like...

    r9 m275x driver question

You make a very valid point, Booman. It's only because Intel is a huge octopus of a corporation that AMD is in their shadow. It was so sweet that tiny AMD stole a TWO year march over the P4(?), if I remember the Athlon vs Intel time period correctly. AMD processors are still a great bargain. I...

    r9 m275x driver question

I strongly supported AMD back in the days of the Athlon. In fact, you and I both waited in the dark and cold for hours for the chance to acquire one for free. Ah, the sweet two complete years when AMD was solidly ahead of Intel in CPU performance! For some reason I doubted AMD's wisdom in buying...

AMD is a smaller operation than we'd like it to be. Perhaps their periodic lack of support for their Vidcards in Linux comes down to an available funds question?

Mint 17.3 uses a LOT of Ubuntu updates, wonder if fglrx drivers are gonna be a problem for AMD video card users? I sure hope not.

I don't run Steam and don't have KDE so it appears I'm not in need of the very latest Nvidia driver. Whew!

    Updating Nvidia Drivers - Mint

I think I understand your point Dan~, but I don't think anyone wishes to be abused. I hope I haven't abused any GamersOnLinux Member, but I fear that I have at least on occasion expected too much from fellow mortals here at GamersOnLinux. That many knowledgeable Members seem to be above the...

    Updating Nvidia Drivers - Mint

I must say that this is an inspiring post, Daniel~! Thank you, I am impressed! TBH, I've asked for SO much help from especially ThunderRd that I need to give him a vacation from my nagging. He's undoubtedly a very busy man and deserves a break!

    Updating Nvidia Drivers - Mint

Umm, seems like more than just a few clicks to this neophyte. Back in Windows daze (the shame) I left updating Vidcard files alone. I don't need tip top performance from my GeForce card, and installing the up to date "driver" only ~three months ago was easy. Why tempt fate?

Tasked with producing a Monet, but paid for a Sarah Irani? Just looked up Sarah Irani. "Mama and Babe" featured at the Museum of Bad Art. Hoo, that's some dreadful art. And not in the Rastafarian sense.
