A good tune. Personally speaking I don't really know how to keep one eye on insanity. It seems to demand that both eyes be fixed on it. Maybe one eye can come away from it, followed by the other. That would be nice.
A surprisingly valid, not to mention good song from Marianne in her beyond "teenage" years. Could do without the mediocre bridge, but it's always something with me. Oh no, I dissed again. Being a perfectionist is not a smart way to go. Who said I were smart?
Thought I would add one from Graceland with more of an African flavor. Truth be told, black people are better musicians and better athletes than we of the honkey race are. Imho, of course.
This is an impressive guitar player, if an interpretation of a classic must be done, Phil Emmanuel's version here is danged good. Thank you for cluing me into this player, I of course was ignorant of his existence.
You are becoming the master of different readings of Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic." The original is still the best, imho. The Allman's version starts the way I like the song, but the extended guitar passages are pure Allman. Sometimes a live version gives acts a chance to elongate their...
This guy had slipped from my musical mind, the shame of it! He is a true maestro of those six strings!
Years ago how tired I was of listening to Mason Williams remasturbate this song. Can't argue that it wasn't a great tune. However Tommy Emmanuel really slays this one. Thanks for reminding me...
Thank you for telling me about the history of this landmark LP. Perhaps I was confused a about this history. Afaik, Paul Simon brought these musicians to New York to record Graceland. I must agree, what talented above and beyond the everyday these South Africans were. Ladysmith Black Mombazo...
Colin James. Why I haven't known about this extremely impressive artist for years. Thank you for posting these vids!!
Pretty freakin' amazing! How easy it is in this crowded world not to know what's going on just next door.
Thank you for making this selection today Dan. Your assortment of songs is impeccable. I stand in awe of your bent in music from a wide set of resources!
Robbie Robertson along with the other members of The Band OMG, did they have talent by the truckload!
Oh yes, this is one of the first popular music memories I have. What wonderful singers they were, and composers too. Hat's off to the Everly Brothers forever!
Shucks, sorry to play "music professor" in post number 328 in this thread. As if I have those qualifications. For shame!
Not to mention that I didn't know about this group of singers before maybe one decade ago.

It was a stroke of genius by Paul Simon to import South African musicians to make this great LP with him. In case you are interested, the bass part that Mr Simon mimes is unplayable in real life. The brilliant Bakithi Kumalo plays that part in Graceland, but the studio "magically"...
I so wanted one of the new tiny X-istor radios, but they were far too expensive when they first became available. Even my bedside table radio had tubes in it. That interlock feature (which disconnected the power when you removed the back of the radio) undoubtedly saved me from more than one...
