Hey BOB! Where are ya!?? The Nobel prize is looking for ya!!

Very interesting people those Mayans. They were wrong about 2012--but what if the collapse was metaphysical? Food for thought I'm thinking.

All I know is that Mr Trump is frightening me with his Cabinet appointments. Not a good one in half a dozen, imho.

Thank you for your reply. "All men as straw dogs." I love that, maybe I'm feeling made of straw a bit more than usual. Not a bad thing I'm thinking.

"President" next to the name of Donny Drumpf. Who'da thought it possible? With this I better discontinue political posts.

I hope we never die. Of course, everyone says that. Dunno exactly why, but I'm a -scared to open the parcel containing my copy of the I-Ching. Finally found three same date quarters. They sit patiently on my desk.

Patti Smith stood in for Mr Dylan at the award ceremony in Scandinavia. She sang "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall," very respectfully.

Hoo boy, the impetus toward total alienation is stronger than ever. Can't go there myself, fortunately(?) I'm more than a bit worried about our P-E. Those "drain the swamp" promises vanished instantly. It'd be nice if the folks who supported him took notice of this. Maybe they have. Sorry about...

Not alien footprints I hope. Looks like a long icy period straight ahead. I'm no ace on the ice but there are far too many that don't have a clue.

Saying negative things about Monsanto and its cohorts is in no way ranting. Poisoning the planet and all living things is their profit center, it matters not to them that we die as they accumulate more lucre. I think it's a safe bet that those evil people at the top eat strictly organic everything.

Losing power for a whole week is not acceptable, I hope that never happens again! I live about a kilometer or so from a small commercial area. Five hours is the worst here, so far. Glad that your cat has a "sense of humor," I had one like that a few years ago. It shredded an entire Frederick &...

84F 42% humidity? Amazing! The weather people were yakking about "Snow. Oh noes!" for about a week. We got about half an inch (~1 centimeter) of the white stuff last night. Looks very pretty when it's fresh, causes lots of traffic problems if it sticks around. Love the way that it decreases noise.

Urbanites tend to romanticize life on the farm. It's really an unrelenting mountain of work as far as I can tell. It's cool that you have that on your resume!

Did you really raise calves? I had no idea. Been away for a few days spending time with my oldest friend, it was lovely to see her, I wish life wasn't bearing down on her so hard.

How kind of them, dropping a turtle into boiling water. Such cruelty is rampant today, maybe humans are simply not perfectible? Perhaps "may you live in an interesting time" is especially true for today? Maybe everyone in history thought that the preceding sentence applied to them?

AFAIK, the sages of what became the I-Ching lived millenia before 200 AD as well as in that time period. Two members of Bahrain's royal family attended the same school I did in England a million years ago. The were OK people but they spoke not too much English. I find it hard to believe that...

    Red Cliff

Yep, it was a tv schedule filler back when I was a wee bairn. 1952 or '53--but I was probably at least ten when I saw it. I don't know why but I think I found "Red Cliff" to be less "miraculous" than I think you did. Perhaps because I'm like the Italians when it comes to subtitles, I don't like...

Perhaps "best of times" may be stretching it a bit. "Victory at Sea" is sure packed with violence, but "Red Cliff" certainly has plenty of it too. I may easily be wrong, but it looks like 200 AD China was more sophisticated in the art of war than the Romans of the same time were. Not to mention...
