Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Thank you, the Temptations were a great group! OTOH, "Patches" is a bit too close to Step n fetchit, at least imho. Here's one that I love, not to mention that it's timeless. And so freakin' true. Go O'jays! Anthony Jackson on bass, first use of a Phaser on bass, ever. Anthony Jackson is one...

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

It's a great article, thank you ThunderRD! Cahuenga Blvd indeed. I lived in Studio City for maybe a year, but it was long after the "sizzling" Seventies. Wait perhaps not, '77 I believe, yes long after those pivotal times in the music biz. The article makes me miss being a musician, but I...

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Thank you very much for posting these songs of yesteryear, ThunderRd! As if I bother to listen to anything modren. Wow, I've never seen a pic or performance by Bonnie Raitt when she was that young. Certainly a good beginning! TOP is one of my tippy top favorites. I lived in the Bay Area early...

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

I didn't know jack about Little Feat. I thought they were a Southren band, but they were from LA. What a mind flock. "Willin" alone should put them in the Rock n Roll "museum of the greats." Sorry, can't remember it correctly ..is it the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? Thank you for the above link...

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Shucks, the content won't play in this BEST country in the world. However, I've known the song for years and it's one of my all time favorites.

I don't understand some of the lyrics, as per usual. I like the song, thanks for the post.

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Happy to say that the link works for me, thank you porporme! Let's see... I must say that I do like the chorus of the song that starts at 15:17 on..."The Asylum Choir." Here's a tune of Russell's that I really like: Shirley and Lee's "Let the Good Times Roll" is a classic classic. It's been...

After 10 years, I finally got a new keyboard!

That's a mighty fine looking keyboard. I must say. But $70? Heavens! Thanks for the cleaning tip. I use canned air every day on my cheapo keyboard, I think it helps. And this thing isn't precisely straight edged on its top. Always something.

After 10 years, I finally got a new keyboard!

And to think I settled for a brand x Keytronic keyboard. It was cheap, after spending more than absolutely necessary for my latest, err, two year old machine I cheeped out on keyboard and mouse. Both work fine though, death to wireless keyboards and mice. And I need flat sided keyboards to fit...

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

'Fraid that not every single folk song resonates with me. "At Seventeen" is of course a classic and I remember the song, if not the lyrics and chords well.

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Here's an example of James Jamerson's work as the premier bassist for Motown. Yet I must insist, contrary to the singer's wishes, no one belongs to anybody. I don't at all object for a vacation from musical examples.

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Maybe I are not too smart, I didn't know that the Farinha siblings were also Ms Baez's brother and sister. This song is nice, if a bit didactic. One thing I wish for is an end of the never ending tremolo in the more famous sister's voice. Can't listen to Joan anymore. But I do like the fact...

    Tommorrow is moving day!

Don't know how to. It's not a simple process that a dummy should be able to handle. That's why I keep asking you to get your old password from AOA. Please. Please.

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Good point. If something I don't like is a lie, how could I not dislike it? There's plenty of art I don't like that's most likely not a lie. As the SEALS used to say when passing a group of Army Rangers in training, "can't take it, can't take it." They passed by while happily tossing a...
