Jeb's campaign was surprisingly short lived. The Donald really upended the Republicans.

How to send an email circa 1984

A pal used to work for the phone co. Little red plastic clips near the two storey tall switching machines were used to cut of someone's service for non payment. He'd remove a few at random to help "fight the power."

How to send an email circa 1984

Ugh, memories. Dial-up was so cool. At least the handshake didn't take forever and a day when I started out. We had to start somewhere, thank goodness that those folks had infinite patience +++ plus! Mo-DEM indeed. Betcha it had baud rates of data flow!

    Mint 18 and SSD Drives

Very generous of you to offer such great help, Dan~! Thank you! I think it will be better to wait until I have Mint 18 Cinnamon installed before diving in to setting everything optimally. It's amazing how small SSD's are compared to spinning drives.

Recently read that only MS's Edge or maybe IE are the only way to see Netflix in 1080p. Sorry, that's WAY too much of a bow to Bill for me. 720p will have to do.

    Mint 18 and SSD Drives

Got no message from UEFI today when I booted. I guess that the change demanded by the Mint update "took hold." Maximum lifetime of my SSD would be nice, but I'm not in a hurry to make those recommended changes. After I have Mint 18 Cinnamon running nicely I may tackle them.

100% of your health insurance covered. How nice! However, there are so many health plans, and 100% of a bad one... If it's a great health plan that's great!

    Mint 18 and SSD Drives

Eep. Complicated enough, and how. I think I'll wait for the automagical Mint 18 Cinnamon update. Then I'll (hopefully) dive in to these SSD optimization instructions. It never crossed my mind to try to defrag my SSD. Question, please. A very recent auto update made me change UEFI access. Now...

I'd like to know if an extra fstab entry is sill needed in Mint 17.3 and 18 as well. Thank you for letting us know about this, Daniel~! And a big thank you in advance if ThunderRd or any other GOL member knows the answer to this!

Important post, thank you Gizmo. We have no idea how the job offers compare. But if it's more money for a job you hate, Gizmo gives great advice.

    Why choosing Mint over (*)Ubuntu

Thank you for cluing me in Dan! You don't know how happy I am to discover that Mint 17.3 will "automatically" update itself to Mint 18 if I simply wait for that event. Yaaaaaaay!! I'm going to be patient and not demand instant update gratification. Saying "please" won't diminish my expectations...

    Why choosing Mint over (*)Ubuntu

Last update from scratch. Does this mean that a HDD wipe followed by the entire installation of Mint 18 is mandatory?

    Why choosing Mint over (*)Ubuntu

I went as far as I could "distro wise" more than a decade ago. I'm not an old hand with Linux by any means. I forgot far, far, far more than I remember about the intricacies of the mighty Linux. For that reason alone I greatly appreciate the ease of using Mint. If you wish to be a nuts and bolt...
