I posted in the Steam discussion what I found. We'll see if anyone has that same problem.
Have only installed 3 or 4 games so far and none of them have asked for credentials or permissions.
Specially Serious Sam BFE!
It just ran... no problems...
We'll see, as people like us report bugs, they can fix it, but as I have always experienced with Linux downloads... you have to make them executable and give full permissions so you can install and run it.
There has to be a way Steam can do it too.
I finally tried out the original Half-Life in LInux
for some reason it won't launch from Steam.
So (of course) I used Terminal to navitate to the Half-Life folder:
/home/booman/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/half-life
I'm not sure why its in common, probably because its not a source game...
Re: Newer versions of Wine
Scratch that, I am including instructions on how to update to new and older versions of Wine in PlayOnLinux in most of my Guides
I've had a lot of small learning experiences where I would have to re-install again and again. Mostly because I didn't know how to undo something I installed, so I would have to start over.
My biggest mess was trying to install ATI drivers for my old Radeon 9600 Pro. I would follow steps on...
That was GREAT!
I only have the last 12 years of computing history experience, but I have read a lot of about those ancient giants.
Its so cool to see someone working on them and refurbishing them.
What a hobby
I've been a little behind since the last post, but there are a bunch of new games on Steam
180 titles isn't bad for the initial launch of LinSteam!
I would link to each one but I'm limited to 3 links in one post
We'll see, I have read many-a-review on other SSD drives and people are having issues.
You are the only one I know who doesn't have problems with your hard drive.
I finally bought my first SSD hard drive.
It had enough good reviews and the capacity/price was just right!
SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
I'll let you know how Mint reacts to it.
Hopefully some more performance...
This means I'll be...
I was going to try Steam in Mint this morning and my internet was intermittent. Turns out my ISP was having problems.
I'll try again in the morning.
If Half-Life and Counter-Strike show up on my games list, then I'll download and give them a try
True, but wait until Half-Life 1 downloads and install all by its-self... no virtual drives, no wine, no hassle... just a few clicks.
Dreamy
I didn't see any news about Half-Life 3
My co-worker introduced me to Mythtv and replacing his TiVo box. I really like this idea... building my own pc to record television and using Linux is right up-my-alley!
Have any of you worked with Mythtv and the required hardware?
Any tips?

Black Judas has a game mix that "apparently" run natively in LInux: Games that run natively in Linux
also, Heethen has a game mix for games that run in Wine: Games that work on Linux (Wine)
the only difference is Desura has a client that downloads and installs the game for you.
Good Ole Games just has a download and you still have to install the game yourself.
