It's quite a bit different than most renditions. We used to profanely change the lyrics to this one, too. Can't remember how but we weren't at all reverent.
What a great song writer Mr Lovett is! This is perhaps my favorite song from him.
I was very lucky and had a Portuguese GF once upon a summer. She was beautiful, sweet and hot at the same time. I guess Portuguese aren't Hispanic 'cause they don't speak Spanish? Oh well.

I don't recall who sang the song originally, but there is a flavor of the great Sam Cooke's voice in Liffin's(?) Yet Sam Cooke stands alone on a mountain peak of greatness. What a voice!
It's a great, great song. I'm confused though, "can't live without you," then "I can't give anymore." If he can't give any more can he really complain about living without her? If giving more is necessary can he draw the the line and refuse to give any more?
