If you are using a 64-bit Mint, then make sure to install the 32-bit libraries. Really helps with games and PlayOnLinux. Use Software Installer or Synaptics Package Manager and search for ia32-libs or "multi-arch" I've also read that Gallium 9 Wine works even better with Radeon video cards...
