    Need DDR3 1333 [Solved]

It ran at 1600 easily with stock voltage. I had this memory over 1800 on a P5Q Pro. PM your address, I'll check with UPS and see time and shipping cost.

    Need DDR3 1333 [Solved]

Hey Brian, I have a brand-new set of this stiff: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=gskill f3-12800cl7d-4gbrm&N=-1&isNodeId=1 It was used once, for two days. I abandoned it when I found the Corsair DDR3-2000 memory I was really after...

Discussion of systemd adoption by Debian, openrc, sysvinit

Interestingly enough, I was hanging out at #gentoo-chat for a while this evening and followed closely this conversation, which, for once, I was NOT a part of: I checked the number of binaries installed by systemd. It's 69. Now, I don't know about you all, but having a such huge rewrite of...

Err...can you tell me how you restored that post <sigh> I could not find the secret sauce.

Discussion of systemd adoption by Debian, openrc, sysvinit

There are devs 'in the know' who are accusing Poettering of designing systemd with the sole aim of getting as many other packages as possible to depend on it. Ostensibly, this would be to strengthen the need for wider systemd usage. I don't *really* think that it's coded with that in mind, but...

Discussion of systemd adoption by Debian, openrc, sysvinit

Their main reason for forking is utter horseshit. I really wonder if it is going to gain real traction. I use Gentoo, Debian stable, and an unstable Debian derivative regularly, and all of them have a way to remain systemd-free if the user so desires. Their main arguments are that Debian (and...

Discussion of systemd adoption by Debian, openrc, sysvinit

Edit: The following posts moved from another hjacked thread here, in the interest of having a place to continue the discussion if there are developments. -thunderrd Even the Linux OS devs can't get it together. Lots of lolz here: http://debianfork.org/ But a more realistic view of the...

DDR2 - 1066MHz or faster RAM: wanted to buy

Yeah, but that item is 2x2GB. I'd rather not use 4 slots in this machine, am looking to double the memory in the same two slots. Using 4 slots would be a last resort, since it forces the 2T memory timing rather than 1T. Actually, I'm not even sure that 2x4GB in DDR2 was ever even made, TBH...

Simcity turns 25: a talk with creator Will Wright

The newest Simcity can be played multi-player; your city can make deals with other players' cities in the *ether*, so you can enter into trade agreements with them for mutual benefit.

What is the Linux Community About?

This is exactly why I'd love to see our IRC channel get busy. There is something about real-time chat that lends itself to community, and the good distros have discovered that.

How to configure your SSD in Linux: old concepts are changing

This is an interesting article by Ferdinand Thommes (devil), the main guy at siduction Linux (http://news.siduction.org/), my personal favorite Debian-based (Sid) distro. Basically, now that SSDs have been around for a while, we've learned a bit more about how they work, and the setup concepts...

The IRC channel is OPEN: #GamersOnLinux [irc.OFTC.net]

You need port 6667 open. That is the standard port the protocol wants to use. /server connects to the IRC server/network, but not to the channel. That is what /join is for. First, type /server irc.oftc.net to connect to the server, then after connection is complete, /join #gamersonlinux to...

The IRC channel is OPEN: #GamersOnLinux [irc.OFTC.net]

I believe your tray icon should blink if there is unread activity in the channel. It always did for me in Xchat and it does in hexchat as well. You can also open a user-to-user window. Right click on a username in the right-hand panel, and open a private messaging window. You can click on it...

The IRC channel is OPEN: #GamersOnLinux [irc.OFTC.net]

Your client can log the channel and the parameters for that are most likely adjustable, check in the settings area someplace. I see you made it in there earlier, I was out at the time but I'm glad you were successful. We'll meet sometime.
