The issue isn't so much the game as it is the launcher window. I don't have the issue with the skyrim launcher window like I do here. Me and my friends are DnD nuts and we wanted to play baldurs gate 2. We got it on steam and we've been playing it. I decided "It's a windows 98 game in total, it should go great in wine!" So I installed it and it all went fine from steam. My issue is that the launcher window has it's own detection layer and the graphics layer glitches up. I have other games like world of warcraft, skyrim, and a bunch of windows native apps running fine in wine. Maybe I should change compatibility modes?
Sounds like another lame html launcher. The one for Borderlands 2 would always crash, so I added the argument in configure. Install Steam and Baldurs Gate2 Click Configure Select Steam shortcut Argument: -no-dwrite Click "make a new shortcut in this virtual drive" Select Baldurs Gate 2 Argument: -NoLauncher Make sure to launch Steam first, then Alt+Tab to get back to PlayOnLinux, then launch Baldurs Gate 2 without a launcher. Should go right to the intro movies or menu Then again it might not work at all because that argument is for Borderlands only. Its worth a try
For some reason it just skips over the launcher with no prompt. Thank you though. I never applied this and I gave up on POL. I just do through normal wine now.
No it plays. It goes right to the game and just skips the launcher for no reason. I am guessing there are a few modifications from valve to detect Wine or not and maybe they add the things automatically if steam is running in wine? I dunno I just know that it goes to the game.
Great, I wasn't even sure if that would work. At least the game works. Exact same experience for me and Borderlands 2.
I didn't have any problems with Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition install. Just installed steam on POL, set 1920x1040 virtual desktop then downloaded the game on steam.
