Have modern video games lost the creativity and uniqueness that games like Black & White had, with its innovative gameplay and moral choices?

I've tried to play Black & White but had a hard time. Specially multi-player.
This was a long time ago, but I remember being confused and just running around.
We couldn't figure out how to do the RPG controls

Black & White is great for the first three islands, but really starts to fall apart after that.

Shoot, I may have to revisit the game... I don't even remember first 3 islands... ha ha
