NWN2 Random Crashes

To preface this topic, I followed to the letter the instructions at this link and the game does launch and plays pretty decent: http://www.gamersonlinux.com/forum/threads/neverwinter-nights-2-guide.345/

That said, I have two issues I am hopeful I can get help on.

1) Anytime I hit multiplayer in the NWN game menu and click in the username field, the game crashes.

2) I can play the singer player campaign for a little bit and it will crash at random

Has anyone else run into that and has been able to correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What kind of system are you running?
What distro are you using?

The guide is a bit old, so I would first start by downloading a newer version of Wine like 1.7.41
Sometimes a different version of Wine can fix all of your problems

Thank you, Booman. Seems changing to 1.7.41 has fixed it. Multiplayer no longer crashes at log in. I'll give it a day or two and report back if that fixes all issues.

Success! I ran NWN2 in multiplayer using the directions with the only change being to use Wine 1.7.41. It ran for over 3 hours before I logged out. It ran just as good as it ever did in Windows. I think that's the only change you need to make to the tutorial .

By the way, I am running elementary OS Freya with NVidia drivers.

Very nice to hear, thanks for testing it and confirming that Wine 1.7.41 is working perfectly.

By the way, are you playing multiplayer online or local?

Yeah, first thing to try when a game doesn't run in Wine, try another Wine version.
