Has anyone got origin to work https://www.origin.com/en-au/download
Its not a game itself but as I already have an account with them and many games I thought I would try to get it to work under linux.
I am running mint 17 64bit and using play on linux to manage all my wine installs as I think its slightly easier.
If anyone has managed to get it to work I would love to hear from you

    Welcome to the forums!
I have been able to sucessfully install and run Origins, but could not download an entire game and run it.
I tried it with Battlefield 3 a long time ago and recently with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
I got Kingdoms to download and install, but it would never run. Probably because the game has DRM when you launch it and requires another registration/sync with EA server.
So friggin lame! Why does it have DRM with Origins and another DRM when launching?

Follow this tutorial on installing Origin in PlayOnLinux
Lots of good tips and shows you how to download and install games

Personally myself I have got nowhere am only just now trying to install games to linux have used it for awhile but trying to stop myself going back to windows just to play games as thats the only time I now use windows.
I tried installing origin a few times playing around with setting but couldn't get it to work at all as in not even installed origin yet.
If you cared to share how you managed to get origin to install I might keep playing with it a little longer and see if I can find something tha works

Messing with Origin my be a waste of time. Steam works a lot better.
If you purchased your game from Humble Bundle, there might be a Steam key as well.

The best I got is using PlayOnLinux and Wine 1.2.28-Origin
This patched version of Wine will allow you to install and update origin. But may or may not actually run Origin.
So once its installed switch to a newer version of Wine like 1.7.19 and then launch it again.
After that, select a game to download and wait...
The main problem I've read about is that games will download all the way to 99% and never finish. There is some kind of trick to finishing the download, but I have not been able to do it.

I've solved the Origin issue via a mini installation guide over at Bodhi Linux's forums. I recently converted to Linux in July and I've been trying to get all my old games to run via Linux.

I don't have screens for that but I've picked up GIMP along the way and I'd be posting screens for my future posts.

Working on getting Sims 4 to work via Origin.

I recently got Divinity: Original Sin to work via Steam.

As for windows games on Steam, I have notables such as Left 4 Dead and both Baldur's Gate Enhanced Editions working but my complete list is quite extensive with 157 working titles. I avoid duplicating existing installation guides so I'd only be doing guides for games that do not have existing literature.

On Origin, I have gotten the following list to work:
    • Peggle
    • Sims 3 and below Expansions
      • World Adventures
      • High End Loft Stuff
      • Ambitions
      • Late Night
      • Generations
      • Pets
      • Supernatural
      • Into the Future
    • Wing commander 3
    • Plants vs Zombies
    • Mass Effect 2
    • Mass Effect 3
    • Star Wars Old Republic
    • Dragon Age Origins
    • Dragon Age 2
    • Kingdoms of Amalur
    • Red Alert 3 (include Uprising)
    • Command and Conquer 4.

I just got a new job, so progress on guides will be somewhat slow what I ease into a new routine.

I hope to post a guide here soon!

Awesome! Great list for new Guides!
I couldn't get Kingdoms of Amalur or Divinity II running at all. It had something to do with DRM and connecting to their server.
    Probably Origin...
Post whenever you want and I'll take a look.

Sweet. I'm looking forward to SWTOR and Divinity: Original Sin, depending on how well they run. I have a good amount of hours into Divinity with friends, and while I'd like to switch my installation over to Linux, I'm not willing to degrade my experience in that game (ie no AA, or glitchy text, or total failure after a Mint/POL update, or whatever could happen).

Albert, did you post a link to your guide in the PlayOnLinux forums?
There are a lot of people who would love to know how to get Origins working.

I have been working on Kingdoms of Amalur and can't get it to launch. I will follow your guide to the "T" and see if that helps.

I was able to install Kingdoms, but it refused to update and/or launch.
So I'm hoping the QT library will help.

Do you have any tips for Kingdoms specifically?
I've read that if you download the entire game, it will never finish but hang at 99%
Then you have to kill a process to finish it.\\
