shadow harvest phantom ops---no in-game video, only sound works

hey everyone,

i just bought SHADOW HARVEST PHANTOM OPS (what a ridiculously long title for a game) from steam. so i install physX and directX 9. i go to load the game and i get to the main menu and everything is fine.
however when i start the first cutscene into the game all i get is a black screen except i can see the text of credits and i can hear the audio sound clearly but i dont see any video. the same is for the in-gameplay, its just pure black screen but i can hear the audio.

any ideas off the top of your head what the problem might be?

i installed directx9, physX (which it requires), vcredistx86 sp1, and the usual for steam.

Since this game is not previously tested in Wine, you are going to spend some time in trial-n-error to get it working.
Steam shows Direct X 9 compatible, so it should run, but it also depends on your system, drivers and packages.

What distro are you using?
Do you have 32-bit libraries installed?

Can you play other games in Linux or PlayOnLinux?

First thing to try is download the newest version of Wine: 1.7.55
Even try some of the "staging" versions available in PlayOnLinux Wine Manager

im using ubuntu 14.04LTS. ive successfully run various games in playonlinux i.e, batman arkham asylum/ city. tombraider 2013 (64bit) , shadow of mordor etc . i believe this is definitely an issue with the game itself in relationship with wine. but as you say i will start testing to get the video sorted. ill keep posting updates etc.

I'm seeing a lot of these i386 errors

Are you sure 32-bit libraries are installed? Like ia32-libs or multi-arch?

If mrdeathjr28 can't get it running, then there is a chance its not going to work.
Since you are using Ubuntu, try this command in the Terminal:

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386; sudo apt-get update

if that doesn't work, then you will have to use this command to manually install all the libraries:
