Ricoh has unveiled a device called the Theta which has two lenses, shoots 360-degree photos and is designed to be linked to a smartphone. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23980615 Looks like an easy way to take 360-degree photos. Quite expensive for what it is though.
Please please shoot some skydomes for game developers with this. I couldn't play the video, but what were the specs on this camera? This is what indie developers have been waiting for to make their own skydomes.
More here: http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/...-that-can-take-spherical-360-degree-panoramas It will capture the whole sky, but I'd suspect some skies won't look so great. The clouds may end up looking flat white.
Too bad it only syncs to iPads and phones. I would love to have this for my Skydomes. Hell I could sell the images online for indie gamers. Cool that it stitchest the two images together. I have always wanted to do a hidden treasure game that has full 360 view of the room or location. Then click on the objects you are supposed to find. This camera could do it.
