Proton handled Venetica perfectly without any serious "game breaking" issues. Honestly, at first glance this game needs some serious polish! Texture seams and assets are poorly made and graphical errors are very obvious. I've played many games from 2009 and this one is suffering from rushed production instead of artistic patience. Somehow the game grew on me and I couldn't stop playing. Sadly most of the areas are linear and the huge city of Venice is much smaller than it appears at a distance. I would love to have seen an open world, but maybe the engine couldn't handle it for the computers of the day? Either way, there are some interesting features like learning new skills from NCPs instead of just activating them when you level up your XP. I would love to see a re-mastered or remake of the entire game with a modern engine! Until then... enjoy!
