Water cooling needed

With the new CPU running hotter than I am comfortable- even with a CoolerMaster HSF -I thought I might go with a water cooler but don't have clue about which ones are good or bad. I know this board has a few experts in that area! Recommendations requested, please, keeping in mind the cost is a factor.
 
I'm not qualified to offer an opinion on purchasing a water cooling system; as you may recall, my water cooling setup was very 'ghetto'.

That being said; jayz2cents on youtube seems to do a pretty good job with watercooling kit. Here's a video that's a good place to start:

Agreed, it was rather basic, but you should have seen some links on that same youtube page to some more detailed videos.

Watched a couple and looked up some sites for review-Should have done that in the first place. I just thought for a second that a bunch of overclockers would have the magic bean! Being lazy seldom works out.

I'm water-cooled.I have used Swifteck in the past for 4 or 5 years and looked at several (as in tried but didn't keep.)

I've been using Koolance for around ten years now. Obviously I very happy with it.
For that reason I can't do you much good when it come to comparisons Haven't looked into comparisons in a decade.":O}
I can tell you two things about Koolance,

1. They make a very good long lasting product.
2. They are expensive

Bare in mind that you will need connectors and a water-cooling block,,,also expense.

Were I setting up today I would look on Amazon and Ebay. Get something used in good condition and I doubt you would ever know the difference.

I was going to spin a lie about a new timeline- confuse you quite a bit-sounded like a fun way to spend a few hours.You ruined it:rolleyes: by catching your own mistake;)

Anyone else remember "Homey[the clown] don't play that" from the tv show "In Living Color?" Rather hilarious it was and for quite a while. As always, your personal mileage will often differ.

Truth is I could not afford to replace mine. (just installed a new pump.) But given it's life span and the half dozen chips it's kept cool and fresh for me...not to mention cooling several video cards over time...

It's still to expense.":O}
 
surely we all know that there's hardware we buy because we have to and then there's the hardware we buy because we simply can't go another day without it! LOL

I stared at the picture of my cooler for YEARS before buying it. No regrets.":O}
 
Of course! Hows it going Bonesaw! Been a long time.
I haven't invested in water cooling yet because air cooling is much cheaper. I'm always on a budget.
So I couldn't tell ya...

You tried out Linux yet?
 
Nice to see you on the board, bonesaw! I dunno if you need the "ultra-pure" water shown on the site you linked to. Maybe distilled water is good enough? In days of old people using liquid cooling added something called "water wetter" to the water.

Just asking tbh, I don't know anything about liquid cooling--except that it lowers CPU and vidcard temps a lot more than plain old air does.
