They day I have been waiting for...
Its confirmed!
Wine 1.7.49 is now fully compatible with dwrite in WinSteam
Now you don't have to use the argument: -no-dwrite
to fix the missing fonts in Steam

I know most of you just use the PlayOnLinux Steam package, but all of my guides download Steam from the steampowered.com website. Even the package requires a dwrite override in Wine, but it automatically sets it for you.

I just tested it today and Steam works perfectly!
I will be using 1.7.49 & 1.7.49-staging from now on for Steam.

Yeah this is a big fix in 1.7.49, other issues have relation with vertex blending on death to spies and death to spies moment of truth and fix for singles 2

:)

Well, I installed Skyrim on my other Mint 17.1 computer and the font problem is still there.
Can you confirm that fonts are working out-of-the-box with Wine 1.7.49?

Curiously i dont test dwrite improvement but testing now and dont fix in my case too (-nodwrite needed too)

:)

Dang, that is what I was afraid of.
I noticed that if you use the "-no-dwrite" argument in PlayOnLinux when you launch Steam, then remove the argument, the fonts still work.
Not sure what it means, but for now, we still need it set.

I just installed Remember Me with Steam this last weekend and never entered
Code:
-no-dwrite
in PlayOnLinux Arguments.
I'm using Wine 1.7.51-staging
There is a chance it has been fixed with the newest staging version of Wine.
