If I had the extra $10 a month I wouldn't mind paying $60 for 12Mbps Some day  Century Link is just as bad. They claim $40 for 12 Mbps but its DSL and isn't quite as reliable as Cox cable.

    Upgrading

Wow, smart man! You will never regret doing your research. Saves you money and time later on. I'm glad to hear you are putting Linux on there as well. My fastest machine also has Win7 and Mint 17 dual-boot. I spend most of my time in Mint, but my wife still works in Windows. You are just in...

    GOG Linux Client

The game industry is not all that different from the movie industry. Pump out High Definition movies packed full of special effects as quick as possible. Eventually it costs more to release it sooner because it requires more people to make it. The result is more expensive products to cover all...

    GOL Google+ Page

We don't have a Google+ page, as far as I know. I have been posting pictures and links to our guides on my own Google+ page, but I don't think anyone is finding them. Should we create a Google+ page? I'm more than happy to update it with our guides an screenshots. Do I have to create a new...

Command & Conquer The First Decade

The cool thing with PlayOnLinux is everything you setup existing in individual "virtual drives" so you can backup the virtual drive then revert back to it if you break it. Its all in a single folder.

    Quake 2 Guide

I just noticed that my screenshots look darker than it does in game. Not sure why, I think Linux desktop has brightness turned up, but the game is set for normal brightness.

No problem, if you ever decide to upgrade, you won't regret it. Hundreds of games will play in Linux and a decent Nvidia card will make all the difference.

    Upgrading

Hey Gryphyn, welcome to the forum. I'm not quite the hardware expert as some of the other guys, but its nice to see some posts about hardware. I'm surprised the SIG motherboard says that is supports 16 Gigs but other report it won't work. Then again, I know how finicky motherboards can be with...

Command & Conquer The First Decade

Not bad! Congrats! Are you using a laptop? Try going into Wine configuration and Graphics tab check all 4 options and set virtual desktop to 1024x768 Then when you launch the game, try setting the video resolution to match your Linux desktop. Now it should appear full screen.

Oh my gosh! You guys are making me drool! I pay the lowest tier for cox and its about $50 for 6Mbps I still can't believe $10 more dollars a month would double this?!!! What sucks is that my bill fluctuates, I'm not sure why, but I'll pay $49 one month and then $55 the next. Why is that? I...

    Skyrim Issues

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking... Are you saying to use Ubuntu and install proprietary drivers, then update them? There is a chance Ubuntu won't install the newest drivers for AMD cards. so you could manually install them yourself. This might help, or you can install older drivers. At...

    GOG Linux Client

Interesting point. I guess I never realized console games were DRM free. So is it possible to download a game to your Xbox and then copy it and send it to your friends? Seems like the DVD's or Blue-Ray would have some kind of copy protection. I remember trying to hack the original Playstation...

    GOG Linux Client

Glad you have time to hang with us now! I watched a little E3, but usually its a bunch of over-hyped press to me. I never purchase a game at launch... never have. I always wait a year or more for the price to drop. Same with movies and computer hardware. Initial prices are ridiculous, so I...

    Quake 2 Guide

That is another thing I love about computers vs consoles... Old games like Quake can be modded to look beautiful and run great on modern video cards.

    Quake 2 Guide

I'm surprised those computers had a video card that would run Quake II. Specially at school. I didn't have my own computer back then but I had a few friends in college who had computers and were playing Quake, Duke Nukem and other games over the network. I always said "if someone taught me all...
