Newest CPU's from AMD and Intel Win 10 ONLY?

My own addition: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3112663/software/microsoft-made-em-do-it-the-latest-kaby-lake-zen-chips-will-support-only-windows-10.html Offhand, I'd say that with the enormous amount of code that Intel contributes to the Linux kernel, that their processors will always be safe...

How is this an issue? Just ask 10 *ing interview questions.

Thorne's books are brilliant. I *think* the books are a mix of real and manufactured, but as he says, the internet is a playground. In this case, I wouldn't put it past him to do this simply to screw with his boss.

Set aside 10 minutes of actual reading for this one - beginning to end. It's a riot, and David Thorne is an Internet comedy genius. http://www.27bslash6.com/interviews.html

The lawyer jokes thread [for booman's new work buddies]

A defense attorney was cross-examining a police officer during a felony trial. Q. "Officer, did you see my client fleeing the scene?" A. "No sir, but I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender running several blocks away." Q. "Officer, who provided this...

Dan, do you have either of these directories on your machine? /usr/share/fonts or /usr/share/fonts/truetype Or you might want to read this: https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/455 Maybe it helps.

The lawyer jokes thread [for booman's new work buddies]

Alan McDershowitz went skiing with his lawyer friend, Johnny O'Cochran. They loaded up Al's BMW SUV and headed to the resort. On the way, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. They looked for the nearest country house, pulled into the drive, and asked the attractive lady who answered the door...

    MY Fonts SUCK!

Daniel, you have to configure the fonts and update the cache after installation. This is how I do it on Debian-esen: fc-list will show you all the installed fonts. You can reconfigure the font rendering with [one at a time, as root]: dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config dpkg-reconfigure...

The lawyer jokes thread [for booman's new work buddies]

Like booman does now, I used to work with a LOT of lawyers. Most of them aren't bad people, although the world seems to perceive them that way. I actually liked quite a few of them, and even stay in touch with a couple, even after all these years. But the BEST part of knowing lawyers is the...

    Pattern Philosphy

As usual, Kaitain says it so much more clearly than I did in my previous post. That is what I was trying to say before; where's the 'right place', and how do we know if we are in it or not? There's a view of the pattern from anywhere, and they are all viable locations. Which one is 'right'?

For those who don't know about this place, here's a quite mature slideshow by a high school student: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFN_f5BZ214 I've posted the url, can't seem to get this damned embedding thing to work.

How to send an email circa 1984

Guiyu is the world's largest dumping ground for e-waste. Something like 70 or 80% of the world's e-waste goes there; the people there are dying of lead and arsenic poisoning, the ground water is undrinkable, and cancer and other disease rates are incredibly high. Do some reading on it...

    Pattern Philosphy

Sorry, but not quite correct, methinks. Where's the 'right place'? You can't choose the place from which you observe. It is by definition the place you are in. The pattern itself is always proper, regardless of the place we observe it from. It is a constant. The view might be a bit...

    Pattern Philosphy

I've not read it, but roomed with a guy at NYU who was an architecture student. I remember he was very excited by this book, but at the time, I had no real interest. It was published in 1977, so it was new when my housemate had it. [I graduated in '78] I have, though, recently bought this...

    Pattern Philosphy

A corollary of 'everything has a pattern' would/could be that one man, looking for a pattern, does not see it regardless of his efforts; but another, looking at the same scene, but from a different location, sees the pattern clearly and effortlessly. Would that not be the same as not seeing the...
