[Guide] Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on GNU/Linux

It's not that the use IE8, they don't need the browser in general. What they want is the libraries Internet Explorer uses or provides. Thus making the application dependent of it.

    Skyrim troubles [resolved]

Those are normal errors. I've encountered them myself If you are using PlayOnLinux just go to Tools -> Close all PlayOnLinux software If you aren't using a wrapper then $ export WINEPREFIX=/PATH/TO/BOTTLE $ wineserver -k Sometimes processes hangs in WINE, it's something that commonly happens.

[Guide] Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on GNU/Linux

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMO) by Square Enix. As you might expect the world of FFXIV is filled incredibly amazing music that revolves around old themes, and classes such as Dragoons, Summoners, White Mages, Black Mages, Ninja, Botanist, etc. I'll...

    Skyrim troubles [resolved]

When programs runs out of memory, it's hard for them to keep processing! I thought, "hey, maybe if he increases it it will work". Anyway, for your stick keys problem there's a solution. I haven't tested it myself but. Turn off keyboard repeats. In the terminal, type xset -r off When you are...

    Skyrim troubles [resolved]

You might want to report it to the WINE devs and see what they respond. I'm out of ideas, mostly because when it comes to onboard cards there's just no telling which one is introducing the bugs. There might be a possibility that the drivers you have are just not working properly. Also, I'd...

    Skyrim troubles [resolved]

Hmmm. Alright, by the looks of it you are using open source drivers, and if I'm not mistaken you are using an onboard card (e.g not dedicated) that could introduce some problems. In linux mint, there's a video card configuration section where it lets you choose Nouveau and other video...

    Skyrim troubles [resolved]

Hello! Welcome to the forums! Could you give us more information? Please check this thread to find out what we need Usually Skyrim works almost out of the box so it's rare to see that happening. Once we have a more solid idea on what you are using we might tackle the problem down. If you are...

Oh noooo, C4 engine drops Linux support

Uhh, sure. I disagree with pretty much what you just said. At ease though, I don't plan to push it any further since it's obvious we'll be disagreeing and arguing for a while and it's not really going to get us anywhere. This goes both ways, by the way.

Oh noooo, C4 engine drops Linux support

That pretty much can be anyone that isn't experienced in X system. God knows how many times have I heard from people starting that linux is crap without explaining what's wrong or asking for help. He wasn't even aggressive in his post, yes, he came off as arrogant that's all to it. Imho, the...

Oh noooo, C4 engine drops Linux support

I'd like to say that the reactions done in reddit and other linux gaming outlets are beyond childish. Boo hoo, yes, he dissed on our precious OS, no I don't think a community backlash is going to make him reconsider. Beyond that? It just looks bad on us, the whole name calling and mockery...

GOG is really behind Linux games

Today, I've been mindblown by the response given by GOG on the matter... pretty much a canned response that leaves much to be desired: So... it doesn't really answer anything. I guess I'll go ask the creators to see if they can shed some light.

Use JPGs instead of PNGs in guides

Hey booman, I have an idea so you don't have to alter your default settings if you prefer them that way. Bind the command scrot to create a jpg with, uh, let's say: <SUPER+S> (where as SUPER is the windows key in your keyboard) So it would be this command scrot...

Use JPGs instead of PNGs in guides

Hey guys, lately I've been browsing through guides in the site and each article has a number of heavy imagery from 1.8mb to 2.7mb. Normally, this isn't a problem to those with really fast internet connections. I'm still on 4mbps(400kb/s) myself and have found it really tedious. Plus those...
