    Thanks for posting this.
Unfortunately its not the complete debug.

    1. Launch PlayOnLinux
    2. Select Steam
    3. Click Debug (on the right side)
    4. Launch Skyrim in Steam
    5. When it crashes close Steam
    6. Debug window will still be up
    7. Copy everything in the debug window
    8. paste here
You can do this with any game to see errors.
By the way, did you disable the Steam In-Game Community overlay?
It causes games to crash randomly.

I hope that's what you needed. Yes I have disabled the overlay. I don't even get a chance to start the game. It hasn't even gotten to the setup menu yet. Thanks for the help, though!

    Sure is!
This error could be a problem. Did I already ask you if you have proprietary drivers installed?
What video chip/card are you using?
    - Intel HD Graphics
    - Nvidia
    - AMD

Also did you install the 32-bit libraries for your distro?
They can be called ia32-libs or multi-arch.

AMD Phenom II X4 840 Processor

It should be the 32 bit libraries as per your instructions in your guide. I followed them exactly. Only I downloaded the game rather than installing it from the disc.

Just in case though, how do I check to make sure?

As for proprietary drivers, I'm not exactly certain either. I don't think they are because I haven't installed any since I installed the ubuntu OS. Whatever drivers came with it are pretty much what are running my machine.

So I changed to proprietary drivers and that solved the problem. It starts up normally now. I just have one more question. Am I going to be able to play games in full screen?

Ok, maybe I have more questions. The game itself is buggy now. Should I take these kinds of questions to a different forum?

    Awesome! Glad its working now.
Yes, you can play full screen. If you set Wine configuration to use a "virtual desktop" then all you have to do is set the resolution in Skyrim launcher to match your Linux desktop. That is, if your video chip/card can handle it.
So if your Ubuntu desktop is 1920x1080, then set the game resolution to 1920x1080
Now it will appear full screen.

The only bugs I experiences in Skyrim was the tree/vegetation animation was really strange and I couldn't see anything underwater.

    What bugs are you noticing?

When I play the game (everything runs so much more smoothly in high quality graphics settings with Ubuntu as opposed to XP :D ) movement doesn't work properly. As in it will randomly keep moving in a direction when I stop pressing a key or my character will sprint when I move forward, consuming stamina, when I did not enable it via a key. That's pretty much the only issue. Attacking is kind of weird as well. I think that's just the PC version though. I can't seem to attack at a rapid rate. Is the PC version is meant to change attack direction with the movement of the mouse correct?

sounds like there might be some bugs with missing 32-bit libraries.
    Are you using Ubuntu 14.04?

Installing Synaptic and ia32-libs might help (source):

    Install Synaptic from terminal window
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install synaptic
Launch synaptic and goto “settings > Repositories”
    click “other software > add”

insert this line in the box
    Code:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring main restricted universe multiverse
    click ok and close synaptic

    Install 32-bit libraries with terminal:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    in terminal
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

With those downloads the game runs a lot better, thanks. Still have some movement issues but they are few and far between. Also, yes i use 14.04.

One final issue is the sound. It doesn't output any kind of sound from the wine program.

Great, so you got the ia32-libs installed?
I wasn't sure if it was going to work in Ubuntu 14.04

So you don't have any sound at all?
I'll have to do some research and see if anyone else is having this problem.
Do you know what audio chip you are using?

No sound comes from the program. Which is super weird. (Sorry for taking so long to respond)
These are what pop up when I check which chipset I'm using.

Wine is set for windows 7, so i don't know why it would act like it is.

The ia32-libs installed just fine, thanks for those.

Ugh, I hope this isn't a pulseaudio problem that still exists! I had problems with Mint 16 and pulseaudio. I read a LOT of posts about Ubuntu 13.10 having the exact same problems.
I was hoping it would be fixed when Ubuntu 14.04 was released. This worries me because I just upgraded to Mint 17 and it may have inherited the same issue.
I'm going to see if Daerandin can help you with this audio troubleshooting.

So, the audio decided to work all of the sudden. I don't know why. I think it may have something to do with the configuration, but I barely messed with it. All I changed was the emulated desktop option and the resolution size. However, thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it!

    No way, thats interesting!
One thing I know about Wine and PlayOnLinux is that they don't support Pulseaudio. So they default to Alsa. From what I've been told, Alsa does not like to share audio with other programs at the same time.
So if you happened to have the internet or a music player open while trying to run Skyrim, then it would cause the game sound to stop working.

Its just a theory, buy maybe thats why sound is working again, because that other program that was prioritizing Alsa's sound finally stopped.

Make sure to apply any updates to your system too.

Glad the issue resolved itself for you. As for sound, I am assuming Ubuntu still use Pulseaudio, and Pulseaudio normally works quite well with applications that require Alsa instead.

Sometimes, it can be something as simple as the default audio output being set incorrectly in the system. There is one easy way to check that sound is being output to the correct device. You can install an application called pavucontrol, it should be available in official Ubuntu repositories. It allows you to see and manage all audio streams individually on the fly.

You can start a game, either windowed or simply switch workspace after having started the game. Then open up pavucontrol. Under the Playback section you will see all applications that are playing sound. In my example I have started a game from PlayOnLinux, and the audio stream is visible. I can easily switch the output to another device instead of using my Razer Megalodon headset.

If you can't see anything there, even when there is supposed to be sound then it can be caused by a number of things. Either your system is configured to not use Pulseaudio at all for Alsa applications, or there could be another problem.

In any case, this is a very useful tool for most cases. You can check if sound is output correctly, and you can manage individual audio streams easily.
