I have known about wayland for a few years and see a lot of positives to it.

After sitting on the toilet ofr 10 minutes I had a thought pop in my head. "Use wayland for gaming! Maybe it would work differently?"

Structurally it is different than X and it uses the drivers a little differently as well. So would it work? Can anyone here vouche for it?

The wayland display server is the planned replacement for X. At the moment you would not be able to do any proper gaming since I know nvidia have yet to make drivers for wayland, but I don't know if AMD have made drivers for wayland. Open source drivers have wayland support, but you would not get the same performance with those drivers.

I think it is best to hold out until larger distros start using wayland as default instead of x.
