Owl Rescue. Sorry, I like owls.
In my25th year i was living communally.we lived down a 1/2vmile road on a 33 acre farm/ranch. I was going out when I spotted a Great horned owl, about twice the size as the one in your video, He was bouncing about in dense brush in a very strange way. I got out of my car to check things out.
He was in a bad way. Someone had hit his wing with a shot gun blast.
Owls do really snap their beaks it's loud and quite intimidating.
But you can tell when they mean business. That's when one reaches for you then snaps. This one wasn't reaching, twice it lifted his claw, the third time I caught on and offered my arm which he promptly accepted as a perch..
We went straight to our vet.. His lost half a wing. but healed nicely.
We built him a 5X5 cage and fed him chicken But things weren't working Out.
We had a squirrel monkey that pretty much had the run of the place,,
Molly Monka Mona could not leave our owl alone. She would jump to the top of the owl cage and reach though the wire mesh and try to pull head feathers.
Sooner or later she was going to lose and arm!!
So we found a wildlife rehab center that would take the great horned owl.
I have always been amazed at the wisdom of injured animals
They will actually accept your help.
I once picked of a 160 lbs Great Dane that had run out of an orchard and onto the road. It was a dark night and she was coal black.I spent a minute talking to her then worked my arms under. I spoke again before I started my awkward lift.
I would have to snatch her up to gain my feet, As I lifted her wined in pain, but licked my face that she understood. She was a beautiful dog in her prime, I offered the vet whatever he needed to save her. she died that night.
The Vet feeling as I did refused all payment.
A ground squirrel with an infected eye once came to me for help. I had been feeding it out my window. But that day the squirrl came in sat on my bed an obvious mess.. I picked her up and made the vet run. The vet had to put her down.
I was always finding hurt animals but only rarely was i able to help them though their darkness.
