[Tips] Running Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance with no flickering or screen problems

I'm playing it right now, haha. A really nice game! I can't do the guide today. I'm on college midterms exams and well, you know the drill. :) But, I'll update the thread soon now that I'm a trusted member :D (and the WINE help guide)

[Tips] Running Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance with no flickering or screen problems

I want to share this with you guys that are working hard on getting games working with WINE. Sometimes we have to look a little deeper to see what's wrong with a game and it's absolutely a very time consuming task. Luckily I've been able to run MGR almost flawless with WINE CSMT patches. I'm...

    .lnk properties?

Alright let me try explain: .LNK files are just shortcuts which point to an executable. They are part of Explorer, the file manager of windows. In truth, you don't really need the lnk file for anything in linux. Let's take this apart: This is a kingdoms of amalur .lnk file I have on my linux...

    .lnk properties?

You can start them with wine start *.lnk Also since it's a link (shortcut) to the executable what you really want is to get the executable and pass the arguments you want. for example: wine /path/to/stalker/stalker.exe [ARGUMENTS]

Hey booman, I can now edit the thread! Thanks! (and many other threads, this is really helpful is I keep writing generic guides) I still need to get over the PlayOnLinux help guide which doesn't change that much. Just a lot of screenshots :]

    Microsoft makes net open source

While I can't say how MS will handle their business in the future; I think for once I feel comfortable with the new CEO (Satya Nadella). I think it takes guts to do what he did and it's a bit uncertain on what's the direction of the company, will they spread their software to OSX and Linux? Who...

Bioshock Infinite makes it into Linux~

Some studios have decided to use wrappers. Like for example the people behind Dragon Age 2 "ported" the game to mac. They use the technology from Transgaming which were the people behind Cedega (which is like Crossover). Link of the work here: https://www.transgaming.com/cider/games?page=1 I...

Bioshock Infinite makes it into Linux~

What's on GamingOnLinux is just mere speculation: The guys behind The Witcher 2 are pretty awful. It just gets worse if you consider that the relationship with the company and the community is pretty darn toxic. Someone should have taught them some basic public relations skills before going...

Left for Dead 2 won't load

I have with Debian. How do I explain it... I've had whole system freeze with no way out because of video drivers. The hotkeys to change tty doesn't work and there's also a slim chance that doing a REISUB doesn't work either. I've always found dealing with video drivers is a PITA. In Debian...

Left for Dead 2 won't load

I googled a bit because you have a pretty neat card that should run that game easily. It seems to be a very typical issue with AMD cards especially with your series. I had to google mostly because you are of course using the drivers, support direct rendering... left me clueless on why wouldn't...

Left for Dead 2 won't load

You can't enable OpenGL extensions, it gets probed by the driver and they are enabled automatically as they see fit. First to fix the locale problem. Get on as root su root Edit the locale with whatever editor you prefer nano /etc/locale.gen Verify that en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 is uncommented...

Help us Help You! How to properly ask for help! (WINE Edition)

The intention of this post is how to create better (question) threads asking for help. As you, we are also human beings, sometimes with not a lot of time on our hands to spare and asking for help is not only this: I'm going to set a few bad examples. The main purpose is to see bad examples and...

    Anno 1701: no keyboard/video crash

I should note that WINE has a bad habit of recreating the menus in that area that Daerandin mentioned. You have to disable the menu builder (usually POL does this by default). Further reading about disabling it here . Not at all. There's no data loss if your WINE updates your bottle. After I...
