Finally, after short-sale in 2012 with our townhouse, we purchased a home here in Virginia. Its actually a few streets away from the rental we live in. My wife and I are so excited because after renting for 12 years and getting ripped off (paying $1900 a month) we can live in our own house with no mortgage.
Patience pays off!
We were blessed the owners were willing to go down $35K from their asking price and my inheritance covered the rest.
Specs:
It will need some work of course. We plan to remove some walls in the living/dining room to open it up so the kitchen and living room are all one space. I'm going to paint the den and make it into my office. Then I'm going to build the garage into a recording studio.
To top-it-off, we are surrounded by trees on the property and forest everywhere in the neighborhood.
Update!
