- freedoom2.wad
- doom.wad
GZDoom Installation and Test Run
- Install GZDoom here: https://zdoom.org/downloads
- Run GZDoom one time to populate the necessary folders in your home
- GZDoom will error, close it
- Go to: https://freedoom.github.io/download.html
- Download freedoom wad files
- Extract to your Desktop
- Copy freedoom1.wad & freedoom2.wad
- Paste in the following directory: /home/username/.config/gzdoom (hidden files may have to be enabled)
- Run GZDoom again and select freedoom2 to test if Doom is working
Mod Installation
- Download the VietDoom Alpha here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/vietdoom/downloads
- Extract .zip to your desktop
- Open the following folder: /home/username/.config/gzdoom (hidden files may have to be enabled)
- Open the VietDoom folder on your desktop
- Copy VietDoomAlpha1.pk3 and paste in the gzdoom folder
Run Mod in GZDoom
- Copy the following command
gzdoom -iwad freedom2.wad -file VietDoomAlpha1.pk3 - Paste in Terminal
- Run (Press Enter)
- Select freedoom2.wad
- Wait a bit while the game loads and then press Esc to open the menu and start a new game!
